"Dad was taken." A sense of dread and a wide area of killing intent spread across the air. "Tundra, please, stay calm, I didn't..."
"Idiot, this isn't me. The sun has set; they are here." Tundra pushed Aaron gently and walked up close to Keir on her own. "First, we will kill every void monster that shows up. Then, we will find the root of the weed and pull it out. Once we are done with that you will tell me exactly what happened to father and how."
She passed him and whispered to the mayor whispering how in luck they are. He held her feet close folding one arm close to her chest and the other hovering over. Chains slowly began to manifest; much like the rest of the creatures classified as "dark" their true abilities show in the darkness.
The wave of void creatures rushed forward. None of them reached near the residents. They watched each beast leap and get impaled instantly by the girl wielding chains. The mayor looked over to Keir; he didn't look shocked in the slightest.
At the rate she was going, she would immobilise the whole wave by herself. Aaron saw one aiming at her from the side, out of her field of view. Aaron instinctively jumped next to her drawing his blade and igniting it with hellfire that burst into blue dragon flames. He slashed the beast they leapt towards Tundra; it wailed and rolled on the ground put out the fire but it was of no use; hellfire couldn't be extinguished and neither could dragon fire.
The townspeople watched as the blue flame devoured the dark beast. This was the first successfully killed beast. The other beasts halted and began to run away. "Whoever is behind these beasts must have lost his connection to that beast just now and ordered the rest to retreat! Come on you two what are you waiting for?" Tundra shouted before running after them. Her body gave out and she collapsed a step away from where she stood.
Aaron called out her name and knelt down; Keir pulled him up. "She'll be fine; we need to follow those beasts if you intend to face her later with good news." Aaron looked at her back, he didn't want to leave but he had no other choice. Keir asked the mayor to look after her while they are away and the mayor was eager enough; she helped defend their town despite them being disrespectful and call her a monster.
All the monsters that were impaled on Tundra's chain freed themselves and joined those who were on the run which gave Keir and Aaron enough time to catch up to them. They followed them up and through the woods. The chase led them to a wooden hut-like construction.
"A mine entrance?" Keir whispered. "It is highly possible this is the hideout. These places are like mazes, if we take the wrong turns we might get caught in a trap." Aaron nods understanding what Keir was saying. They carefully approached the mines entrance and opened it. An eerie feeling crawled on their skin; the stale air was hard to breathe in.
Once they were far enough, Aaron felt a sting in the back of his head and a weight pressed down on his shoulders and then it lifted. "You felt that just now? That was my dad." Keir whispered. "He sensed us coming and has lifted his pressure on this area. The closer we get the stronger it will be so steel yourself."
"Can't he just lift it completely?" Aaron wondered and was slightly bothered about meeting Tundra's dad now. Keir shook his head and before he could explain why there were footsteps approaching fast.
He quickly covered Aaron's mouth and pulled him into a rift he opened behind his back. They stayed there for a moment. "That was close." He exhaled."What exactly is your ability as a dragon warrior?" Aaron asked still unsure, looking around in the dark nothingness around him.
"Space. I can move freely through space." Keir replied putting it as simply as he could. "We are currently in a subspace of this mine. I don't think you can see it the way I do, I guess. You look like you are trying to find something here."
