Chapter 22: Save them! (Part 2)

Savit’s POV:

It’s been twelve hours since my sister had been kidnapped and Tai went missing. And still, there was no call from the kidnappers, instead, I did receive a call from Vit who told me that Tai’s brother had come down to the office inquiring about him because they couldn’t reach him and the last time they talked he was still in office. Arghh!! I was going mad, first of all, my sister was kidnapped, and then my newly appointed Marketing Head went missing (still do not know if he was kidnapped with Arisa or not). However, I had to find a way to get both of them back safely but before I found a way to do that, I asked Vit to give my number to Tai’s brother, so that he can directly contact and I shall do the same if I get to know anything about him. But I never knew that he had an elder brother, but then again we never talked about such things, we never had the time to.

‘No. No. What am I even thinking? I am talking as if he is my boyfriend.’ Forget it, Savit, for now just focus on getting back home safely. Yes. Moreover, if whatever Jay said is true, then Tai must have been kidnapped because of being close to my family or being connected to me. Lost in my thoughts, I failed to notice that my phone was ringing, hence my dad picked up the call and put it on speaker seeing an unknown number.

“Hello, my dear friend. Long-time no see ha.”

I could recognize this voice from anywhere. It was the sickening voice of that bastard. It was him. I wasn’t wrong to think that it was him who kidnapped Arisa and most probably even Tai. He had always been jealous of me. He was my best friend once. Aran and I had been childhood friends, we grew up together. We had first met in our kindergarten when we both were busy crying because our parents had abandoned us in an unknown place. Because we both were busy crying and not paying attention to anything that was going on in class, the teacher decided to pair us up and since then we had been inseparable until…

Until we got into university. Coming from a competitive environment in an international school, we both have always been head to head whenever it came to academics, sports, or extra-curricular activities like music, swimming, or photography; but it never affected our friendship. Or maybe we did not let it affect us. However, all of it changed when we entered university and things like being the hottest, smartest person on campus started coming up. Slowly we were drifting apart but it was still ok, until that unfortunate day when Claire confessed her love for me. All this time, Jay, Claire, Aran, and I were a group and did most of the things together, which also meant spending a lot of time together even when we were not studying. Moments like these when we were carefree and spent some quality time together made Aran fall for Claire, who was unaware or maybe ignoring her growing feeling for me. Even though I rejected Claire’s love for me, it did not sit well with Aran. All he saw was the fact that I have always been standing in between his achievements whether it be related to academics, professional, or even personal life.
That is when he decided to take revenge on me because he knew how much I cherished friendship over anything whether it be my friendship with Claire or him. It was a month after Claire had confessed and by now we meaning Aran and I had stopped talking completely, entirely his decision and not mine. It was a gloomy day and it had been raining cats and dogs since morning that day, because of which I was home spending some quality time with my baby Arisa, who was one year old as my parents went out to run some important errands. I was busy playing with Arisa when I got a call from an unknown number. I was confused seeing the unknown number but still picked up the call.

“Hello. Who is this?”

“Enjoying your time with your sister, but have you ever wondered where is your best Claire?”

I recognized the voice. It was Aran.
“Aran? What do you mean?”

“Well… you should have kept a tab on her, after all, she is your sweetheart.”

“I have told you a hundred times and I will tell it again that Claire is just my best friend. I do not have any feelings for her, romantically.”

“That’s the problem, my boy. That’s the problem. Even when you don’t like her, she likes you but never gives a fuck about me who is ready to die just for her.”

“What are you talking about, Aran? Are you drunk?”

“Drunk? No. I am in my absolute senses. However, I do have a surprise for you. Hope you will like it.”

And then he cut the call. I tried calling back again on the same number but it was already switched off. Nevertheless, not even a second later I received a message. It was a video about Claire being tied to a chair, with her lips bruised and busted. Aran had kidnapped Claire. How could he do that to someone he loved? But I did not have the time to think about all this, instead, I had to go and save Claire from that monster’s clutches. But I also couldn’t leave my baby sister alone at home, so I quickly called my parents asking how long would they take to come back home. They said that they were almost home and shall reach in the next ten minutes. In the meanwhile, I quickly informed Jay about the situation and asked him to come over.

Once my parents were back, I told them whatever happened, so decided to help me and find Claire’s location by asking their private detective to track her phone’s last location. By the time Jay reached my place, my parents had found Claire’s location which was half an hour’s ride from my place located in between the woods. Without wasting another minute, I left with Jay to the address and get Claire out of Aran’s hold. We were able to reach the place in the estimated and started searching for a place where Claire could be kept. Twenty minutes into searching and we were finally able to find an abandoned house in the middle of nowhere. Both Jay and I very carefully entered the house from the open window at the backside, only to witness that Aran had tortured Claire by beating her and now was about to force himself upon her. I lost it when I saw what he was about to do and beat the shit out of him. While I was busy punching Aran, Jay had already taken Claire into his protective embrace but what I failed to notice was Aran had taken a gun out of his back pocket and had aimed it at me.  I was aware of it only when Claire shouted my name, this made Aran angrier and he pulled the trigger. But the bullet never pierced my body because Claire had taken it for me.
