Chapter 28: Confession!!

Tai’s POV:

A few minutes after Mrs. Asnee left, Mr. Savit and Arisa came in, and the first thing Arisa did was shout ‘Bunny’ which instantly brought a smile to my face. So, I asked her to come closer to me,  and almost forgetting that I was hurt, I bend down to pick her up on the bed but soon enough hissed in pain. Although it was nothing major though, even before I could do something else, Mr. Savit scolded Arisa and me that how could I be so careless and do something like that. Anyways, I just scooped aside so that she could come and sit beside me. And the moment she sat beside me, she started asking me questions, followed by sharing whatever she did in the last few days and how Mr. Savit always scolded her for not listening to him. This made me smile. Arisa’s non-stop blabber made me happy, however, what I failed to notice was Mr. Savit’s undivided attention on us. I almost forgot that he was also present here in the room because of how quiet he was. He got my attention when his phone rang and he excused himself to go attend the call.
Nevertheless, he returned a few minutes later with Mrs. Asnee who was here to pick up Arisa. But both Arisa and I didn’t want to let each other go. However, with the promise of meeting each other again tomorrow, we let each other go. After Mrs. Asnee left, Mr. Savit was also about to leave but I couldn’t let that happen. I needed answers to all those endless questions roaming around rent-free in my head ever since I woke up. I also had to apologize to him for putting Arisa’s life in danger, so I gathered all the courage in me and called him before he could exit the ward.

“Mr. Savit.” The moment he heard me calling him, he turned around and mumbled an almost inaudible, ‘Yes?’

“Ahh…I wanted to talk to about something.”

So, he had no other option but to come back and take a seat in front of me. Once he settled himself on the chair, I said the very first thing that I have been wanting to tell, that is,
“I’m sorry.”

“Sorry? Why are you sorry?”

“Because, because I almost put Arisa’s life in danger when I lurched forward to stop Aran from stabbing her.”

“No. Tai. If there is anything then I should be thankful to you for saving my princess’s life even when you put your life in danger. So, thank you. I’ll forever be grateful to you for that.”

“No. No, you don’t have to say thank you. She is too precious even for me to let something happen to her.”

He just nodded his head but otherwise kept quiet. So, I took the initiative again to know whether he really had feelings for me or not. But how do I do it? Arghh….think Tai. Think! Ahh!! Yes got it. Anyways before I started, I quickly took a deep breath and tried to let out all the insecurities and fears of facing the rejection I had and smiled.

“I also wanted to ask you about something?”

“Hmm. What is it?”

“Why did Aran kidnap me?”

……..

Silence is what I only got in response, so I decided to add some more information to my question.

“Why did Aran kidnap me? Do you know the reason? Because when I asked him, he told me that he wanted to snatch away your love just like you did from him. But what I didn’t understand was when did I become your loved one?”

……..

Again silence. This was making me angry and I was losing my patience. Can he not just answer me? It is a simple yes or no. Not that hard to answer. But even I have decided that I would not let him go until he answers all my questions. Hence, I ask him once again, but with more conviction this time.

“Why did Aran kidnap me and tell me that if he harms me, you will be hurt?”

And finally, he answered.

“What do you want to hear Tai?”

“I don’t know. You tell me. What did he mean when he said this?”

“He meant nothing. He thought that you are very important to me because he must have seen how close you were Arisa, and I never let Arisa close to any stranger, that’s it.”

“If it is so, then why did you let her close to me?”

“Because you are my employee and if not anything, I at least know that you are a good person, who would not hurt her.”

“Is that it?”

“Yes,” said he, trying to end the conversation, but I couldn’t let that happen until I got to know his real feelings for me.

“So you just let Arisa be close to me because you thought I was a good person, and not because you felt nice, comfortable and safe with me?”

“Obviously, all those are a part of the deal, and I chose my employees only after I feel that they are a good fit for the company so…”

“Then why is Arisa not close to anyone else?”

“How would I know that? She just likes you, can’t you be happy with that? Why are questioning it so much?”

“I just wanted to know…”
“Know that?”

“Know whether my feelings are one-sided or not?”

And there it was. My confession! I finally told him that I had feelings for him but what I still didn’t know was his answer to my confession.
