"So here is hospitality." Sophie shows her family the Williams cafeteria. Her dad, Alisha, Leah and Noah were all there to support her for her first home race. "If you're hungry throughout the day feel free to get something, everybody is super nice."
"The real question is how good is their coffee?" Her dad places a hand on her shoulder.
"I've never actually had their coffee." Sophie realises.
"How are you my daughter." He shakes his head and walks to take a seat outside in the sun. The weather was surprisingly good for British standards, Sophie had managed to get away with wearing a light zip up hoodie and a Williams hat on her head.
"So when does the race start." Noah looks around excitedly, taking in the buzz.
"The big race is on Sunday, so you've still got a while to wait. Today you get to see the cars out practicing, tomorrow is qualifying." She explains, seeing his face deflate a little bit still staying happy.
"So what do you do when you're not in the car?" Leah takes a seat next to their dad.
"Well when I'm not driving I still have a lot of important things to do. I have meetings with strategists, I get team orders and go over data to see how we can improve, I have interviews, media training, physical training, reaction training. It's never really just a quiet weekend." She laughs whilst explaining.
"That sounds busy but boring." Leah realises, leaning back.
"It can be." Sophie agrees. "But I love the driving so it's all worth it."
"The company makes it better." Sophie feels a pat on her shoulder, turning her head to see George towering over her. "That is as long as no one has annoyed her."
"George." Her dad stood up to shake his hand. "You've grew up to be a fine young man." His Scottish accent was thick.
Although Sophie and George had grew up racing together it had been about 3 years since her dad had last saw him in person due to the clashing of their busy schedules.
"Thank you Johnathan." George blushes slightly. "How have you been?" He makes polite conversation.
"Good, good, busy with work but we've managed to get some time off to come see Sophie. How has F1 been treating you?"
"It's been good, still hoping to improve and get some points. I've got to run but I'll see you all later." He smiles at everyone before jogging off to catch up with his PR manager.
"He's always been a nice boy." Her dad looks at her, confusing Sophie as she's not sure where her dads sudden man crush on her friend had came from.
"Yeah, sometimes I think he's too nice." Sophie thinks aloud. Most drivers would have a clear aggressive streak in them that expressed itself through rage and anger, but George was always on the rather calm and collected side - it wasn't a bad thing, it was just a bit strange.
"How has it been being his teammate? Do you fight a lot or are you like superheroes who fight together?" Leah tries her best to understand the situation as she hasn't been a very keen follower of F1.
"We don't ever fight because the team doesn't allow it. I have my views on racing with him but I keep my racing and personal life very separate, which helps since a few of my other friends are drivers." Sophie tries to explain.
"That makes sense." Leah nods her head before pulling out her phone.
"So where are your other friends?" Noah sits up a bit straighter and looks around to see if there are any other drivers nearby, making Sophie giggle a bit at his eagerness.
