A/N: if anyone has any feedback about how to make this story better I would love to hear it 😁

Sophie scans her paddock pass for the first time ever as an F1 driver, making her way through the motorhomes to the very back towards Williams. She stops in at the hospitality first to get herself a cup of tea, acknowledging everyone along the way whether they worked for Williams or not.

There had been a few cameras that were likely filming interviews or gathering off track footage, but none of them were invasive enough to bother her, allowing her to calmly make her way towards the garage where the car was finally ready.

The mechanics were running around making sure everything should be fine with the blue and white F1 car. The mechanics were the real hero's right now as they put all of their energy in to making sure Sophie had a functioning car to finally drive.

"Sophie." Claire Williams made her way towards her with Debbie and unfamiliar man.

"Hi Claire." Sophie extended her hand professionally for the woman to shake. "How are you?"

"A lot better now that we have a car here to drive." She lightly rolls her eyes in humour, but Sophie didn't find it funny. She knows that the woman in front of her isn't entirely to blame, however not having the car ready isn't something to joke about as it puts them at an even bigger disadvantage. "Anyway, I wanted to introduce you to Alexander Douglas, he will be your race engineer." She gestures to the man. He looks to be in his mid 40s, with greying hair and a stern look.

"It's a pleasure to meet you." Sophie extends her hand again which he firmly shakes and nods his head in acknowledgement.

Whilst they were shaking hands she noticed Debbie taking a picture on her phone, which would likely be used on a range of social medias to spread the news.

"We've gave George the morning slot for testing so he should be going out in the next half hour, and we've got you scheduled in for the afternoon for a couple of hours." Claire informed her. "If any media approach you within that time we are still sticking to the original plan of avoid all questions regarding the reasons we are late to testing, however Paddy will be addressing them later on today officially but it's nothing you should be worrying about, we just need you to focus on the drive."

"Okay thanks Claire." She smiles at the woman before she turns and leaves the three others. Sophie then looks towards Debbie who was busy typing on her iPad. "Debbie, is there anything I have scheduled in today?"

"Nothing specifically, there is media around the paddock that might try to talk with you, however as Claire said just avoid questions around the timing of the car." She briefly looks up before putting her head back down to finish typing.

"Are you free any time today to grab a coffee or just to chat?" Sophie turns to Alexander.

His brows furrowed down his face, making his already stern face even more intense. "I don't think it would be suitable for us to 'hang out' out with the work setting."

"I didn't mean like that." Sophie was taken aback not only by his thought but also his rude tone. "If you're going to be the only person I have communication with whilst I'm in a carbon fibre box going the fastest I've ever driven, where one tiny mistake could cost me my life, I'd at least like to get to know you so I can trust you."

Debbie briefly looked up, starting to get worried as she knew there was lots of cameras around including Netflix.

"I'll see." He huffs before walking away.
