Since the accident Sophie had no contact with Charles. Not a message, not a phone call, absolute radio silence. Although when she was in the hospital she wanted nothing more than to hear his soothing accented voice, she refused to give him the satisfaction of her phoning first. No matter how much she loves him, her stubbornness and pride are overwhelming in comparison.

After 4 days in the hospital she had been released. Lando tried his best to stay with her the whole time, but she quickly had to remind him that although she wasn't taking place in the final race of the season, he still was and he needed to get in as much practise as possible, especially since he was in the midfield fight of the overall standings.

Reluctantly he had left her hospital on the Tuesday morning, tucking a strand of her hair behind her ear and placing a fluttering kiss on her forehead, a moment that made her heart speed up uncontrollably.

He had surprised her with the action, but more importantly he had surprised himself. He had never done a movement so intimate with anybody, but when he saw Sophie lying there, looking up at him with her sky blue eyes he was entranced, and he had done it before he had even thought about it, leaving him with a plane ride full of overthinking.

What had he done? Was it too much? That's his best friend who he knows he's in love with, but she's still in love with someone else! Yet he hasn't saw Charles come to the hospital at all, not even a phone call which left him battling two emotions - confusion and anger. He was confused, simply because when he first saw that Williams shattered across the track, he wanted to halt the car right there, rip off his seatbelts and sprint across to do whatever he could to help her. He couldn't have stood at the side not knowing if Sophie was alright, or even alive. Then that confusion had morphed to anger. He was angry at Charles for not bothering, and not realising how god damn lucky he is to have such a wonderful girl like Sophie tripping head over heels for him, when he doesn't even have an inch of care to check on her. He would've understood if it was a media concern for him, but lots of the drivers had stopped in at the hospital at least once or checked in on her, so it would be difficult for the media to twist a visit in their favour.

But there was nothing Lando could do about it. So instead he sat on his flight home, overthinking endlessly whilst sipping on a bottle of water.

Meanwhile Sophie had moved in with her mum and Toto during the break, with the both of them fussing over her continuously as though she was made of glass. Although Sophie appreciated the kindness and caring nature from her family, she just wanted to be treated normally.

Throughout the week she had some FaceTime meetings with multiple departments at Williams regarding the crash, media and lawyers, all of which were anything but fun.

But now it was time for Abu Dhabi, and although she wasn't racing Sophie still wanted to partake in her media duties to take her mind off of everything.

"Hello Sophie." Sophie was standing on a balcony looking over the circuit as they were filming the 2019 secret Santa for the F1 YouTube account. "We have your gift here from your secret Santa." The off camera interviewer smiles as she passes across three presents of all different sizes, wrapped not very neatly in light blue London wrapping paper, making her smile a little. The gifts had been placed on a small fold up table in front of Sophie which they had placed there since she wouldn't be able to hold them due to her wrist.

"Three gifts!" She looks to the camera with a giddy smirk. "I've been spoiled." Sophie was shocked to say the least. When the drivers had been told a couple of races back about the secret Santa, they were all told to bring a small gift for someone else, and yet here she was with three - a gift about 2ft high, another gift that looked like it might be a book or something, and then a small gift about the size of her finger.
