The race was shit.
Well technically it couldn't have been shit for Sophie considering she never actually got to race.
Once again Williams had pulled her from the race to conserve parts, but this time it was before the race had even began. So basically her flight to Japan was absolutely pointless when she could have instead been doing something more worthwhile with her time.
Raging was an understatement but there was nothing more that she could do now, she would just have to ride it out until the light at the end of the tunnel in the shape of Toro Rosso came to save her. But until then she would take it on the chin and appreciate that despite being flown across the world, at least she was still with her friends.
Tonight they were going out to celebrate Charles birthday which would be in 3 days time, but it was the last time before that day that they would all be together so they were going to make the most of it. There were quite few of the drivers going: Charles, Pierre, Seb, Max, Carlos, Sophie, George, Antonio, Alex, Lance, Esteban, Marcus, and Lando, who despite being under 20 they were hoping to sneak in.
Bringing the hotel room key against the door and gently tapping it, Sophie let's out an exhausted grunt as she opens the door. She couldn't really be bothered going out tonight, but she would do it for Charles. Throwing her bag on the bed, she goes to lie down for a moment, only to notice something sitting atop the table in the corner.
The sight made Sophies heart swell as she neared it. On the table there was a small bouquet of pastel pink Japanese camellia flowers, with large bar of dairy milk which she had actually been craving for the past couple of weeks but was unable to find any since she hadn't been in the UK. Sophie was a sucker for chocolate, it was the one thing that Cameron struggled to keep her away from. Milk, dark, white, orange, caramel, Cadbury, galaxy, nestle, milka, toblerone, Swiss, Belgian, whatever type of chocolate there was she would love it - except hersheys, unless it was cookies and cream. But Cadbury always reminded her or home, so for it be sitting there patiently waiting for her arrival after a mentally challenging day, was exactly what she needed to piece herself back together.
And the flowers were absolutely stunning. Now that she had noticed them, she was also aware of the floral perfume swirling around the room, reminding her of a calm field, instantly relaxing her. She had never been a big flower girl, but she could always appreciate the beauty in them.
But what caught her attention within the flowers was the slight shimmer of silver peaking out. Gently moving the flowers with her hand, she plucks out the smooth card, flipping it over to see a handwritten note etched on to it.
Soph,
Some days are harder than others, but I'll be by your side for all of them.
And I'm hoping that if I let you know, I'm here for you, maybe you'll love yourself like I love you.
But for now I'll be dreaming about the day when you wake up and find that what you're looking for has been here the whole timeKeep going rockstar!
I love you
The note was exactly what Sophie needed it to be. It was a mixture of kind and motivational, with both a one direction and Taylor Swift reference - two of her favourite artists. It was perfect. She couldn't even try to diminish the smile that etched its way on to her face, and cleared her mind from the negative thoughts that were flooding in. All of a sudden her sour mood was gone and she was actually motivated to go out for the night, she was excited to see Charles to thank him for the support and love. Love. He had just admitted in the message that he loved her for the first time. Sophie felt her cheeks begin to tinge pink and her stomach filling with butterflies. She had never been in love before, sure she loved her family and friends but there was a difference between love in the familiar sense and being in love. But all of the books and movies depict it to be an overwhelming sense of butterflies fluttering uncontrollably, and she had just felt that eruption in her stomach - so then she must be in love? To her, being in love and feeling anxious felt awfully similar in the moment and she realised that her over dramatic mind games have came in to play. She was making full situations up in her head and she had to stop. She would just need to talk to him about that L bomb tonight.
