Donghyuck was walking trough the crowded halls after finishing his dance practice headed for some vocal lessons when his eye caught the new announcement on the info board, stepping closer to read what it was about.
!!Auditions for the upcoming musical Highway to your heart based on the script by S.I. and directed by Ten Lee as a collaboration between the students of SNU and the SUFA.
All interested students can get further information about the project or sign up by Ten Lee (SUFA) or Zhong Chenle (SNU)!!
"Hey Hyuck, what are you reading there?" A boy asked as he threw his arm around the tan boy's shoulder and fixed his glasses. "Oh, it's the one Taeyong and Kun have been writing songs for!"
"Why would they do that for something like this. And to believe that Ten actually agreed on something so embarrassing as going on stage with those SNU wannabees."
"Yo~ I heard that Ten actually fought the representatives of the other universities to get his hands on that piece!" Mark said as he scanned the announcement for anything useful before returning his attention to his frowning best friend.
"Either that's a load of bull or that old man has totally gone crazy, but I still don't understand how he got those two on board to actually compose songs for this circus."
"That circus you're speaking of is the reason why we got on board, Donghyuck, and you'd understand it if you actually read the script." Kun spoke up from behind them only receiving a scoff before the youngest walked away uninterested in the whole musical.
"You think I could get a summary of the script?" Mark asked the man curious about the thing that changed the mind of THE Ten Lee about collaborating with the university that stole part of their students away every year.
"Come over later and I'll show you the actual thing that Iseul sent me over when we started working together." The older patted Mark's shoulder before walking away to his own classes, convinced that they'd be able to pull the angry pudu on board as well.
Reading the original draft both Taeyong and Kun were aware what their sneaky director had in mind especially when they had a guy fitting not only the visual description of the male lead but also his personality matched almost scarily.
If they managed to pull Donghyuck on board their success would be guaranteed as the kid was a prodigy and a genius performer no matter what he role was given.
Meanwhile word spread around the university about their two best songwriters working on a project that was on a bigger scale than anything they organized before, students crowding Ten's office to get a summary and apply for auditions.
During lunch break Mark and Donghyuck approached their group of friends wondering what those papers were that everyone around was so busy reading until Jaehyun cleared them up about the musical.
"Oh, Mark, Kun left you this for the meanwhile until you go over to check out the actual thing." The handsome guy slid a piece of paper over with a dimpled smile playing on his lips at the curious expression of the younger.
"Oh come on, you too?!"
"Just want to know what all this hype is about." Mark shrugged as he skimmed over the little text given on the page, looking rather simple for something everyone seems to fuss about so much. "So... a Highschool Musical and Camp Rock fusion?"
"You could describe it that way too, but look at the big picture." Johnny added with a knowing smirk fully expecting the clueless expression he got from the younger.
"A mainstream plot that satisfies the need of a relaxed and predictable story one could watch with ease." Donghyuck interfered seeing his best friend look absolutely lost and wishing to end the topic as soon as possible.
"Exactly, and by performing it at the national theater Ten hopes to reach a large audience and inspire many to pursue this career, or in simple words, he's using it as a bait to get more students to chose this university in the future."
"That would actually be a genius plan if it didn't involve the SNU."
"Yes, but don't forget that the script was written by one of their students, a young writer that apparently has already a few successful stage debuts behind them. Ten just used the opportunity to steal some of their fame and turn it into profit for us, not to mention putting our students on the stage of the national theater."
The tan boy remained quiet but everyone could see the gears turn in his head as he contemplated on whether to trust them and sacrifice his time for such a questionable project or not.
