Gut Feeling

When I reached my building, I swung the door open and stepped inside, smiling to Mary, who lives on the same floor as me. She always checks up on me and I normally do the same but today felt different. She was acting strange.

"Are you alright today, Mary?"

"Mhm, yeah."

"You sure?" I asked her as I looked down at her hand that was shaking and then my eyes drifted back up to her face. "Where's the bruise from?"

"I'm fine, I just slipped on some water. My tap keeps leaking."

"Give me a call, I'll come over and fix it." I said as I handed her my card.

"Yeah. Maybe."

"What's going on, Mary? This isn't like you."

"My grandson. I have to go and see him."

"Oh ok. Hope he's okay."

"You too." She said before she hurried out of the lobby.

I watched her leave and get in her car, giving her a small wave before I put my foot on the first step.

I paused.

Something didn't feel right. I had a gut feeling that something was wrong. Mary seemed scared and if she had reached out to our landlord, he would've fixed the leak because he's good like that.

I looked up the steps one more time before I left the building and walked around to the side of it. I started to climb the fire escape with a knife in my mouth and my gun strapped to my side.

I dived through the closed window, glass smashing everywhere, before I grabbed the person that was sat on the arm chair and wrapped my arm around their shoulders, holding a knife to their throat.

"Luke, I knew it was you or your buddies. My guts never wrong."

"Except, this time you are." They said as someone switched the light on.

My eyes darted to each girl dressed in the uniform except with a few changes. The bracelet colour was blue as well as the laces on their shoes.

The red head that I was holding captive let out a chuckle and grabbed my arm. She threw me forward and to the floor.

They all had a bandana covering their faces and were wearing the black cloaks.

"Amelia, it only took you fifteen years to become Queen Bee. At least I was liked by my sisters." I said as I pointed my gun at her.

"You've gotten weak."

"I highly doubt that."

"Fine. You and me right now. They'll stand down." She said before she nodded towards the girls who dipped their heads and stepped back.

I wrapped my legs around her head and pulled her over my body so her back went slamming down to the floor. I went to punch her as I sat across her but she dodged my fist and landed a punch to my stomach. Once I gained control again, I kept punching until she was barley conscious. I knew how hard to hit without causing her proper damage.

I should've held her hands down because she ended up clicking her fingers, telling the girls to come over.

Both my arms were grabbed and they flung me into the kitchen side, my back hitting the top. I fell onto my knees and grabbed my knife, slashing it across one of their legs. She stumbled back and I threw a punch at her face, knocking her clean out.

A few cuts later and the girls were on the floor apart from two. One grabbed me and threw me into the kitchen cabinet and I slowly struggled to my feet. I clutched the side to help myself up but they kicked me in the back, my face hitting the floor.

The last two grabbed my arms and dragged me along the floor. I had no energy to fight back so I let them. They pulled me up to my knees and pulled my head back.

Amelia crouched down in front of me and held my chin in her hands. She smirked at me and in response, I spat blood in her face.

She was the first to punch me and carried on a few more times to get back at me for earlier. Finally, they got me to stand but it resulted in me getting repeatedly punched in the stomach.

My knees went weak and my body was at risk of collapsing but the two girls kept a strong grip and got me to stand.

It felt like forever before they finally let go of my arms. My body hit the floor as well as my head. Blood was trailing out of my mouth and the metallic taste was making me feel sick. I tried to get up but Amelia kicked me in the back.

Their footsteps left the room and I decided to lay there for a bit just to make sure they were definitely gone. I'm glad I stayed there because if I hadn't, I would've ended up smacking my chin on the floor.

Amelia lifted my head by my hair before she looked me in the eyes.

"If you go to the hospital, I'll kill you." She said before she let my head go.

When I knew they were definitely gone, I dragged my lifeless body behind my kitchen island and attempted to pull myself to my feet. My legs felt like jelly as I collapsed to the floor, knocking a few plates to the ground as I went.

Please tell me someone heard that.

I kind of wish it was Luke and his men that were in my apartment because Luke wouldn't have let a single one touch me and if they did, they'd be in a body bag the next morning.

Amelia and I used to get along well but once she realised that Dean loved me and would often call me his star, she got jealous. I hated the nickname and I started to hate the life that I was apart of. Amelia didn't like that and called me selfish. When we got everyone out, she travelled with us for a bit until she decided that she wanted to go back.

Apparently at her old school, she was popular and everyone liked her. She thought she was picked because Dean took a liking to her. He just needed girls because he was selfish and he took her from her life. She wasn't like us though, she had a family. An adoptive one but the stories she told me about them, it told me she really missed them. She hated living with the guilt of knowing what she had done, so she went back and got them to take her mind and make her forget.

I couldn't save them all but I really wanted to.

If I had tried harder, then I wouldn't be in this situation and that sick bastard wouldn't have anymore control over these girls.
