*No One's Pov*
Jay had been training with Kyle for about an hour before Tyler came and joined but Hannah warned Jay to leave.
"What did you do?" Asked Kyle as he stumbled back from the hard hits.
"Nothing. Why do you assume that I've done something?"
"Because Brandon doesn't normally send people off to train unless they've gotten angry and fallen out with another person."
"Are we here to talk or box?"
"Okay." Said Kyle and quickly shut his mouth, giving Tyler a nod.
Jay walked down the steps by himself, looking around the kicthen, hoping to find Taylor.
"What's up?" Asked Lillian as she took a seat at the kitchen island.
"Have you seen Taylor?" He asked.
Lillian and Brandon looked at each other before going back to cooking with Nate.
"What? Am I missing something?" Asked Jay as his faced turned to worry.
"No. It's just...Brandon, help me out here." Said Lillian.
"Stay seated, Jay." He said and stopped what he was doing.
"I will. Now, tell me."
"Wow, you really like her."
"Yeah." Sighed Jay.
"She got into it with Tyler. She's gone out."
"Will she be back for dinner?"
"Nope. She's grabbed something already."
"You sure?"
"Yep. Gary messaged, the guy who owns the diner where she buys food from. He said she turned up and looked tired."
"Well, where has she gone?"
"Patrol." Said Lillian as she started getting bowls out.
"Do you all do it?"
"Nope. Just Taylor. She feels like she needs to protect a certain group home. Or a certain person."
"Oh."
"Yeah. It really takes a toll on her. She's never stepped foot in that home since the incident. She never gets further than the other side of the street."
"When she gets back, how is she normally?"
"Fine. She keeps her feelings to herself."
"Yeah. I know."
"Just be there for her but I doubt that will be a problem." Laughed Lillian as she handed Jay a bowl and called the others down for dinner.
*Taylor's Pov*
A small hand reached up from the window and waved up at the sky, a huge smile on her face.
I stood up and waved up at sky, letting a smile show before I stepped back into the shadows.
"Hey, Luke." I whispered.
I let out small laugh, knowing this girl was just like me. At some point, she'll stop waving. She'll soon realise that no one wants to adopt her and she'll give up. She will go cold, just like I did. She looks around ten, which was the same age as me when I was first in there.
Sarah, my sister, had such a long life ahead of her. I never waved to my parents because they never changed. Not when Sarah died. They favoured her over me. My mom wished I was a boy before I was even born so I was given the name Riley. It is gender neutral but I'm glad I let go of it. It made me weak and reminded me of things I didn't need to be reminded of.
