------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Today was the day that my wife was to move into our home. I had no intention of seeing her, but it was hard not to when you could see her outside of your window with a smile like that.
A flawless, natural, beautiful smile.
There was something very wrong me.
Right now, I knew I should be using this time to go over the endless pile of paperwork that needs to be finalised and approved so our next plan can actually move along, but that was long gone out my brain. All my brain could think right now, was to command my legs to take me out of this room and out to the garden where she was.
Our garden was massive for no real good reason. My mom's only hobby seems to be researching and planting every single flower on God's green Earth. And every time she discovers a new flower, like it's some sort of necessity, she announces to the whole family the flower meaning behind it. Literally no one cares but everyone loves her too much to tell her we don't. But maybe my future wife could be her friend.
When I first met Alaina outside at the courtyard garden of the restaurant, her eyes lit up in awe and satisfaction. And for some questionable reason, I liked it. It took so much will power to supress a smile from forming on my own. But as soon as I started talking to her, her eyes dimmed and she acutely detached herself from the situation. It could be that she was trying to withhold professionalism but some part of me deflated, and that fact made me hate myself just a little more. Why do I care so much about a girl that could well and truly kill me?
But here I was telling Ryan, our butler, to inform Alaina she can access the garden at any time she wished. And I don't even regret it at all. Why? I have no idea.
By the time I was outside and out the garden, Alaina was at the rose garden section.
My mother has collected, seeded, and cared for endless amount of roses. They were her favourite. She says roses may be beautiful but will cause harm, if you're not careful enough and that was their charm. For unknown reason, courtesy of my stupid brain, I could only relate that back to Alaina. Soft and rich l in appearance, but lethal if you were on the wrong side at the wrong time.
Her hands were behind her back walking along the rose garden, stopping from time to time to observe closely at each different type of rose. She wore a hoodie that seemed to be 2 sizes too big, simple track pants and her hair was in a loose low ponytail. Comfortable, practical clothing. Perfect outfit for a move in day.
But it felt as though it was worn on purpose. And a gut feeling told me that I wasn't gonna like the reason. But I pushed the thought aside. It's not my business to probe into what she wanted to wear.
I approach towards her and obviously had to step on a fallen stick that snap way too loudly in the silence that surrounded us. I internally tell myself off for making me seem like some stalking dick as her face whips around to source of the sound, and then slowly look up to face me. Her free looking face no longer visible, replaced by a guarded face. She spoke first.
