By the time it was ten pm sharp, we were out the door, heading for the Smithy residence.

Contrary to the sheer amount of enemies the De Luca's had, which was always one too many, the Taylor's barely had any. Or at least from what I could gather, there were very little of them. This was proven with the extreme contrast in the amount of missions we went on in the past two month that I have been here. Which was never. Not once.

So tonight, was my first official mission with, and for the Taylor's.

The journey there was taking longer than what I had expected. I just assumed everyone working for the Taylor's resided near the main residence, but I was proven wrong.

During the car ride there, not many conversations were exchanged between Luke and I, it was mostly spent in silence. But it was comfortable silence. One where I could listen to my thoughts in a calm, collected manner.

It was peaceful.

And unlike the many times I was abruptly told to go on missions without much warning previously, this time, I was briefed, the reason was given, and I had the time to compose myself and concentrate on what I was about to do.

I was respected as an individual. I was requested to take action.

Not forced.

And I was glad to be made of use. That was the only reason I was here in the first place anyway.

In total, there were 20 of us in this mission, including Ash, Josh, Will, and Sofia, who I had met at the ball. As well as two hackers, one of whom was Rei. I don't know why I had assumed she had no business being actually related to this world besides being Josh's wife, which was stupid on my part, but when I had learned that she was a computer genius, it made sense. You could tell she was the calm one, with patience I could not even dream to have. Very much like my sister Lily. No wonder why they manage to do magic with those electronics.

When we arrived to our destination, Luke told me to put in the earpiece in my ear, while he was plugging in his own. This way we could hear not only each other, but also directs it to our computer geniuses if we need help, which I have no doubt we will need.

Or at least I always seem to.

The Smithy residence was not that large if you go by mafia family standards, but it was large, nonetheless. It was a modern home, splashed with soft grey and white tones, glass windows everywhere, lights from within shining out almost a little too obnoxiously in the darkness gifted by the night.

We positioned ourselves to where we were directed, clarified through the briefing we had prior to the mission we were about to undertake. Luke and I near the front entrance, Ash, and Josh at the back, with 5 men divided between the two groups, while Will and Sophia with two other men were stationed on some hill directly opposite the house since they were gifted snipers.

"All stationed?" Luke asks through the earpiece, and we all reply 'yes' in unison. "Right, enter in 3,2,1!"

And then we were in, adrenaline pumping through my veins as Luke, myself and our men weave our way through from gates leading to the front entrance, tackling down the few measly looking security, that I could not fathom why they were hired in the first place, that had obscured our way. We didn't even need to use our bullets, or any weapon for that matter to pass through directly towards the front door. A few direct punches in the face and diaphragm, knocking out the air inside their lungs, while dodging a few punches they were able to throw our way was all that was needed to bypass them. A little too easy for my liking. Easy was never a good thing, for bad was to follow.

After what felt like a nice warm up, and making sure that we were all safe, and uninjured, we made our way directly to the front door.

Just like the modern exterior of this place, the door lock was also modern. An electronic keypad.

"Rei? Front door" Luke simply demands, and the reply came shortly after.

"Open." Rei replies, an easiness in her tone, making myself relax too, which I couldn't determine if it was a good thing or not.

Luke places his hand on the handle, and nods towards us. We all nod back, hands ready on one or more weapons at our disposal. Then, slowly, Luke pushes on the now unlocked door, and we find the house that was so brightly lit, now dark and still.

Eeriness seeping out from within.
