It was a fortunate thing that my body was used to being injured. Healing process for me was usually a lot quicker than the standard person. Although the first few days after I had awoken, I was much too tired to do anything at all, I was active by nature.

Everyday that passes, the more stamina I regained. And the more I wanted to move around. Being caged inside this room and being put on bedrest and being closely monitored was not something I favoured upon.

Those who I was comfortable with dropped by when they could and that did help with passing the time, but they were all hovering over me like I was still in a severely compromised state. Which I must state clearly, I no longer was. However, none of them saw it that way. Absolutely no one.

Rei would lecture me any opportunity she got about benefits and importance of resting and nutrition while Sofia acted like my new mother, which involved her checking in every five minutes and asking way too many questions. Along with the periodical reminder to drink water.

And then there was Luke

He very rarely left my side.

The first few days, we were both still in some sort of disbelief. And we both craved each other's presence. Because we needed it. The reassurance that we were both very much alive on Earth and not elsewhere.

Naturally, I wanted him as close to me. At first he had refused to sleep together. Afraid that he would somehow harm me in some way. But as the number of tubes, wires and machines decreased and my begging increased, I managed to convince him, and we slept comfortably in each other's embrace.

But the one thing I was not pleased was that he was already out and about doing his duties when he wasn't being hawk in this room, while I was still being monitored. Perhaps I wasn't in my best condition, but I didn't understand why I was still hospitalised. I could walk around anywhere independently without any aid, and it wasn't like I was going in and out of consciousness like I had two weeks ago.

It was safe to say I was going to go insane soon.

Feeling like a child but not caring much at all, I pick up a pink marker and begin to color in my flower from the coloring book gifted to me by Sofia as pastime activity. It wasn't the most entertaining thing to do in my small world, but it did the job of occupying my mind. I continue to color in the picture, switching marker colors until I begin to hear clear footsteps I couldn't recognize.

Whether it was because I was born into this side of the world or because of my role as a killer, my senses tended to be sharper. I could recognize the footsteps of those who frequented to see me so hearing this new footstep was throwing me off. Well not new per se. It was familiar. But I couldn't put it together.

What if they were the MeX's? My Uncle's men? What if it was my Uncle himself?

A figure approaches. Stops in front of the sliding door. And then slides it open just a little.

Tall, lean, and the usual attire of black dress pants and white dress shirt with its sleeves rolled up. Stoned face. Someone I didn't particularly like, but I sag in relief knowing it was someone I knew.

"I know I'm not supposed to be here but . . . Can I come in?" Ash asks. I hadn't seen him since I had awoken courtesy of Luke and that was the way I liked it. But seeing him now, without his usual hostile aura, it felt different. Odd.
