Concert Day One

The next morning, Yoongi got up, earlier than he needed to, after a fitful night. He didn't get to see her, and what kept him up, replaying everything from the previous day, were the words Jongdae said, probably without realizing the effect they would have on him. He spent hours lying in bed awake wondering why she was crying, and what he had done to make her cry.

It must have been something he did because she had just left the room when Jongdae saw her. If she cried, she was not in character. There was no reason to do that if no one was around to see it. Jongdae saw her, maybe he caught her leaving, and to explain why she was going back to her own room instead of staying the night, perhaps she told him they'd argued. It would be a normal thing for couples to argue. She would be very clever to have come up with that so quickly. But the tears, actual tears, did she have time to come up with tears too? How long could they have been talking? He was plagued with the idea that there could have been something that happened that made her cry, that made Soo Ah cry, not his pretend girlfriend.

Of course he had considered that when he asked her to leave, she would have been surprised. But why would that make her cry? She might have looked forward to having a night alone. All of the reasons he comes up with feel like lies he's telling himself so he doesn't read more into this. He can't know her reasons until he sees her, and he's not going to see her, not today, not tonight, and maybe not for a few days. The idea of not seeing her makes his stomach feel weak. He tells himself it's just hunger, and then he laughs at the idea that he could feel hunger in more than one way. He didn't eat anything, even though it feels like it should be dinner time, that's got to be what it is...

Now, hours later, he scrolls mindlessly through his phone, barely registering anything on the screen as he sits in the back of the transport van taking them to the stadium. Jungkook and J-Hope are with him, and both seem to be deep in their own discussion of a specific part of the choreography, and both oblivious to the grim look on his face, and the puffiness around his eyes from lack of sleep.

He ignores the chatter and looks up at the city streets and the buildings as they pass by them. It's such a big city, it seems to take so long to get anywhere, but once he's at the stadium, his night is planned, and the distractions of work should erase these lingering doubts. He will have no trouble forgetting about her once he's working. Even if Soo Ah was coming to the show, he wouldn't see her much, he reasons. She wouldn't arrive for hours yet, and she wouldn't be in the same car with him now or after the show. Most likely, Jongdae would bring her separately after they finish their schedule of press, rehearsal, soundcheck, wardrobe, hair and make up. He might see her just before the show, if she was coming, and a little bit after, but that's not much more than 30 minutes of his time. It's hardly worth it for her to bother, he tries to convince himself.

It's still hours until the show but the area around the stadium is already buzzing with the activity. Fans are wandering around restaurants and shops surrounding the stadium, and hours long merchandise lines extended around the block and down the streets. None of the fans look up at the vehicles as they drive past. Only one van doesn't attract much attention and they are traveling in from different directions to reach the underground parking and the drop off for the backstage. The vans look like any other faceless black transport with dark windows. If there was a hint that they were inside, it could be very difficult for the driver to maneuver safely. Most fans are respectful and give them space, but all it takes is a few to be dangerous and put everyone at risk by trying to get too close to the vans, trying to get too close to them. Every once in a while, someone leaks their schedule, and people are expecting them to be traveling on certain roads at certain times. It's one of the reasons why new security are vetted so thoroughly before they are anywhere near the members.

When leaks happen, it's often traced back to someone in the office, someone who won't be working for the company much longer, but it's gotten better since they began using codes/initials in the itineraries. Soo Ah has a codename, she doesn't know it, but it's 'GFWTPH', the working title for the song. Since no one knows the song yet, know one would guess what that means. Of course, if he kept the title, and released it, her code name would have to change for future tours. Future tours?!
