Ch. 8

"Wait, this is Kamek's room!?"

You took off your hood and looked at Jr in shock. You had never been out of your small section of the west wing since the day Bowser moved you here. Seeing two new places in one day was a lot for you to take in.

"I don't get it!" Jr said in frustration. "I set up the warp boxes myself!"

Weird...

Hold up-

"Jr, are the ruins closer to my room, or Kamek's room?"

"Well..." Jr paused for a moment to think. "I would say it's closer to your room. Why do you ask?"

"Well that explains it." you said while pretty much facepalming at this inconvenience. "Warp boxes work in a very specific way. Once one is summoned, it will take you to the closest one placed. Which means that once Kamek and father used their warp box to retreat-"

"They went to your room!" Jr gasped at the realization. "That's so stupid! Why didn't I think of that!?"

"They probably noticed I'm gone-"

Before you could finish the doors to the tower burst open. Standing in the doorway, with a look of great concern was both Kamek and Bowser.

"(Y/n)! Jr!" Bowser yelled while swiftly walking up to the two of you. "What are you doing here!? Where have you been!?"

Bowser loomed over you and Jr while looking angry, concerned, and incredibly tired.

"Explain yourselves this instance!" Kamek demanded "Why on earth were we taken to your room!? How did the two of you end up here!?"

"It's not (y/n)'s fault!" Jr exclaimed while stepping in front of you. "All of this was my doing, (y/n) had nothing to do with this!"

"Do with what?" Bowser asked in a stern tone.

"Well- um, we may have- uh..." Jr stuttered while trying to figure out the best way to explain.

"We watched the fight between you and the Mario Brothers!" You quickly explained, causing both Kamek and Bowser to look at you in shock. "We used a warp box that Jr had set up ahead of time. When we used it to go back, we... ended up here..."

They seemed stunned and unsure of what to say. You've never broken the rules when it came to leaving your secured area.

"Jr..." Bowser said, breaking the silence. "How could you put (y/n) in such danger? How could you put yourself in such danger? You know the risk of (y/n)'s magic!"

You felt stung from your fathers words. You knew you could be a danger to your brother, but you couldn't help but feel hurt by your own father saying that.

"But, I didn't lose control!" You swiftly defended yourself. "I even felt an odd amount of control on my magic when that star-"

"The power star!?" Kamek interrupted. "Jr you didn't-"

"He didn't say a word about what it was to me!" You yelled while grabbing Jrs hand and stepping in front of him to defend him. "I also made the decision on my own to go watch the battle! While Jr was the one who set up the warp boxes, it was ultimately me who chose to go!"

Your frustration and anger was clearly showing, which caused Kamek and Bowser to stare at you in disbelief.

Your life with them had been full of obedience, not once had you stepped out of line in this way. You had always shown respect to Kamek and Bowser, and felt like you had to follow the rules out of gratitude for what they have done for you.
