"Prince Haru of the Flower Kingdom?" Jr asked, tilting his head slightly as he watched you practicing your magic in your training chamber beneath the west wing of Bowser's castle.

"Yeah. He sent a letter to Princess Peach about finding a star shard in his kingdom and has called on us to retrieve it. How he even knew we were looking for the pieces of the shattered power star is beyond me..." you said with a small huff before sending a powerful blast of (m/c) fire at one of the enchanted training dummies that was lined up near the far wall.

You watched as the dummy blasted apart in flaming destruction before soon reforming back together, looking as if it had been untouched thanks to Kamek's enchantment.

You had returned home for a bit to blow off some steam, managing to sneak away to use the warp pipes Kadaver had set up. You just wanted to visit your home again since you were unsure of when you'd be able to return next after you leave for this mission to retrieve the star shards.

It had only been a few days since you had learned you were allowed to join the mission to help find the star shards. With everyone being busy preparing for the mission, it was pretty easy to sneak away for a while.

"So you'll actually get to visit the Flower Kingdom? y/n, that's awesome!" Jr said with a smile and a curious gleam in his eyes. "The flower people cut off their kingdom a few years ago and haven't let in any outsiders since. They have a small population, and are the only other species besides humans to recently have a protection act."

You turned and looked Jr with a curious and slightly interested look in your eyes. You gave a nod while letting out a hum of acknowledgement before turning and sending a small blast of ice magic towards another one of the dummies, knocking it over and freezing it before the ice suddenly thawed and the dummy stood back up on its own as if nothing had happened.

"You've been learning more about kingdom politics, huh?" you said with a small smile as you watched Jr mindlessly fiddle with his bandana.

"Well... yeah, kind of..." Jr said with a shrug. "I'm around that age when I'm supposed to start learning junk and stuff to be king one day. Ever since you've left, Kameks has had more time to instruct me..."

You could have sworn that Jr's tone slightly changed a bit when talking about Kamek's teachings, but you weren't positive so you decided to just brush it off. You were about to 'destroy' another training dummy, only for Jr to speak up and cause you to pause.

"y/n... are you ok?" Jr muttered softly, looking a bit uneasy as his eyes searched your expression. "You've been pretty... aggressive with the training dummies today."

You paused in your stance, Jr's uneasy gaze making your stomach churn.

You hated when he looked at you like that...

"I'm..." you were about to say you were fine, but something stopped you as the words caught in your throat.

You looked over at Jr, knowing he would probably be able to tell you were lying. You sighed as you walked over and sat next to him against the wall.

"Listen... I'm going to tell you something, but you can't tell dad or Kamek, ok?" you muttered while fidgeting with the chain necklace around your neck.
