I just wanted to explain something real quick:

The way a character's appearance changes when they use a power up will be dialed down a bit for the more drastic ones in this story.

Ya know, the ones like tanuki leaf, cat bell, and boomerang blooms for example... (×﹏×)

You were unable to pull your gaze away from Luigi.

He kept his eyes locked onto you, displaying immense fear and anxiety as he took a few hesitant steps back while shaking his head as if he were denying the fact that you were actually there.

The terror in his eyes caused your state of rage to falter for a moment as rising emotions of uncertainty and guilt started to slowly take over.

However, you couldn't understand the reason behind his fearful gaze.

Sure, he had been a bit nervous before, but now he was looking at you as if you were the most threatening and terrifying thing he had ever encountered.

Knowing that he has probably faced threats that appeared much greater than you based on his job's expectations, you felt confused by his sudden intense emotions...

"Why are you here?" Mario sharply questioned as he stepped in front of his brother, causing you to break your sight from Luigi.

You just ignored Mario, instead choosing to take this moment to glance at the lakitu that was sitting on the ground behind you.

They had on large, round glasses that were tightly secured onto their face and a dark, gray striped shell, which you didn't even know was a possible variant.

The lakitu was gazing up at you with a look of utter shock plastered on their face as they tightly gripped onto their arm.

You then noticed the blood that was coming from where they kept their hold...

A citizen did this!?

Why!?

How!?

Your rage and anxiety began to return at the sight of the injured lakitu, furious over the fact that someone did this, and fearful over the idea that the lakitu was sent by your father.

"W-who are you?" The lakitu quietly questioned with confusion and concern lining their voice. "I-I thought his right hand was a parakoopa..."

Parakoopa?

Who's right hand?

What is this lakitu talking about...

"I know you can talk..." Mario said in frustration, causing you to turn your attention back to the brothers.

"W-wait..." Luigi stuttered as he grabbed Mario's shoulder, keeping him from approaching you any further. "I don't think... M-maybe we should just..."

"Luigi, it's going to be fine." Mario said in a stern but reassuring voice. "We just need to-"

Before Mario could finish what he was saying, everything was immediately cut off by something aggressively striking your shield, causing it to instantly shatter as you lost the hold on your spell.

You fell to the ground, feeling something sharp slicing through the side of your shoulder as it sped past you after breaking your shield. You slightly cried out from the pain as you swiftly became completely consumed by adrenaline.
