The air around you grew cold before you felt a sudden and familiar change in gravity. You suddenly began to be pulled upwards from where you were falling. You braced yourself as you were suddenly shot out of the other end of the red warp pipe and slightly projected forward into the air.
While not the most graceful of landings, you did manage to land on your feet for once, only stumbling a bit before catching your balance.
You let out a sigh of relief before jumping from the sound of Kadavers voice.
"You don't use warp pipes that often, do ya?" He snickered, before motioning for you to follow him.
You let out a frustrated sigh before following him out of the small stone room the pipe had brought you too, and out into a dimly lit hallway. The dark bricks that made up the hall looked practically brand new, the only thing decorating them being the occasional lanturn. The ground beneath you lacked any scuffs or markings of travel. It was incredibly silent, the only sound being Kadevers claws clacking against the stone floor as the two of you walked through the hall.
At the end of the hall stood an entrance way which led into another small room practically identical to the one you had just come from. Just like the last room, a red warp pipe was placed in the middle of the stone floor.
"This is the pipe we made that'll bring you to a secluded area. It's about a twenty minute walk north from the Mushroom Kingdom." Kadaver explained as he walked past the pipe and towards the brick wall across from it. "But, before you go anywhere, you have to sign that contract..."
Kadaver reached out his clawed hand and placed it on one of the bricks in front of him. He then pushed in on the brick, causing it to sink into the wall. The sound of grinding stone echoed across the room before a sudden click was heard. To your surprise, the bricks that made up the wall started to fold in on each other and move apart, revealing the entrance to another chamber.
Kadaver walked through the newly formed entrance way as you followed in behind him.
The room you entered was unlike anything you were expecting.
The room was decently large and lined with intricate, smooth carvings within the stone columns that climbed up the walls. Above you hung a good number of lanterns, all of them hanging at various heights while lighting the room up with a cool glow from the blue fire burning within them. Tapestries with simple designs hung across the walls and were made up of muted tones of blue and gray. Bookshelves lined the room between the tapestries, and there appeared to be no doors in sight. Near the middle of the room stood a desk with two chairs on either side.
You found the room to be far more put together than you had been expecting.
You then became suddenly startled by the sound of the stone wall closing behind you, causing Kadaver to chuckle with amusement as you were snapped out of your initial surprise.
"There's no reason to be so on edge..." Kadaver muttered condescendingly as he made his way over to the desk.
I can't let my guard down...
"Take a seat, y/n." Kadaver said as he sat down in one of the large chairs.
"I'd rather stand." You stated while crossing your arms and giving Kadaver a slight glare.
"Alright... whatever you're most comfortable with..." Kadaver shrugged before opening a drawer to his desk.
He pulled out a sheet of paper you assumed to be the contract. You noticed that it had a small amount of luminescence to it as he placed it upon the desk. You could feel the magic that came from the paper, only filling you with further uncertainty.
