Chapter 10

UNKNOWN'S POV

I smelt him before I saw him, I smelt the fresh blood. I smelt.... Ugh, sweat. And I smelt fear. It smells so bad, like a mix of body odor, rotten eggs, and skunk. Yeah, very pleasant. But this was in the morning, it is noon now and I finally see him.  

A gangly man with grayish brown hair. He looks like he has been stretched out for he has long arms and legs but little meat on his bones. He has a very pointed chin. All-in-all, he reminds me of a weasel. 

I don't think he can see me yet for he has 3 large scratches right across his left eye, from scalp to temple. So when he gets closer I shout to him. 

"Hello there!"  

He jumps from fright and turns his head, trying to be able to see me with his good eye. When it finally does come to rest on me, he lets out a huge sigh of relief. 

"Oh thank heavens I found you!", He exclaims running towards me. 

I raise my eyebrows at him, "me? Why would you be looking for me?" 

He doesn't answer, instead he keeps running until he is right in front of me. Then he puts his hands on his knees and catches his breath. I wait for him patiently. 

Still out of breath he looks up at me and breathes out just one word, "her". 

I feel my eyes widen. I know who "her" is but I ask him anyways. 

I feel a little irritated when he doesn't answer, but instead stays hunched over trying to catch his breath. "Well", I ask him. I raise my eyebrows impatiently. 

He looks up at me, still bent over and finally replies. "I saw her! She did this..... To me!" 

"Yes, yes! But who IS her!?!?" I say shouting at him. 

"Luna..... Luna Felis" he finally tells me. 

"Where?", I exclaim. "Where did you see her!"  

"Just a little farther up there", he says pointing back the way he came. 

"Show me!", I shout back already running in the direction he pointed.

It took us twenty minutes to get to the place, but once we had, I knew we were there even before he told me. I could smell her everywhere in the area, especially her blood. It was everywhere. There was even some of it still left on the ground. "What happened?", I asked him calmly. 

"Well, we took out a family of Evos and we were asking the last one, a teenage boy, some questions, you know, protocol issues, and then all of a sudden she ambushed us! She killed one of the hunters from behind, then came after me and well, I got away when she was distracted. 

"I see", I say while I look at the giant gouge marks out of the back of one of the hunters, touching the back of his neck where there are giant tooth marks. It looks like she broke his spine. Ouch. "Then what happened?"  

"I don't know, I hightailed it out of there while I had the chance. Ya know, if that kid wouldn't have shot the other guy in our band, I wouldn't have gotten away. Heh, heh. Talk about taking one for the team, ya know what a I mean? 

I look at the hunter with disgust. Taking one for the team? Really? I want to punch him in the face for his selfishness. But instead I just nod with a "yup". He looks at me like a little kid who just did a good job and is expecting praise. Wow. "Well, good job, um.... I can take it from here so you can just go home now so... Bye." I turn and start walking away. 

"Wait!", He exclaims, "I'm going with you." 

Great. "Um that's not really necessary, I mean I can find my way to her and I honestly don't need any help." 

"I'm coming, without me, you would never have known, so you owe me!" 

Not true, but to say that I could have found her without him would have made him suspicious so I decide to just put up with him.  

"Fine, but you better not cause any trouble or get on my nerves, especially the second one."  

His faces stretches in a huge crooked grin and he says, " oh don't you worry bout me! You won't even know I'm here!" 

"Doubt it", I think to myself, but decide to stay quiet as we set off in the direction she had gone.
