Chapter 8

JAMES'S POV

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I looked down with shock at the big cat that had just saved my life. My first reaction when it walked up to me was fear, but then I realized it wasn't going to hurt me for it could have easily had done so already.
"Who..... Who are you?" I choke out, for my voice is trembling with nerves from what had just happened. I flinch when the cat parts its jaws in a toothy grin. Wait a minute, cats don't grin! I gasp when, right after I realize that, the cat starts to change.
The fur starts to recede, the body starts to stand upright, the tail shrinks back into the body, long brown hair starts to sprout from the scalp, and the eyes turn from a deep amber to a startling blue, so blue they seem to look right through me. She, for she is most definitely a girl, is beautiful. She is wearing brown tights and a forest green top. All in all, it is her look. I've never liked a girl who dressed up, I've always been more for the casual. Her face is angular like a cat's. I take a deep breath in. She smells wonderful, like wild flowers and the smell of air after it rains, plus something else I couldn't put my finger on, but it made my skin crawl with pleasure. I couldn't get enough of it.
"Hello", she says. Her voice is like a purr. It's very rich. I could listen to her speak all day. I knew that if she wanted to do something I would go along just to hear a morsel of praise. Holy shit.
"Hi", I reply back. My voice sounds ridiculous compared to hers. "Um, who are you?" I ask. Crap I hope that wasn't to forward.
She smiles a dazzling smile at me. I am totally entranced. "I am Luna Felis" she tells me. "And you?"
She talks very foreignly, like she hasn't spoke this language in a while. Or any words at all. It suites her. Makes her seem more mysterious."I'm James", I say, "James Kirus".
"I thought that you could use my help, I'm very sorry about your family, I wish I could have helped them too. You know, I saw you before, you walked past me. Your sister, I assume, had the most wonderful laugh, it made the whole world seem brighter. It makes me sad to know I will not be able to hear it again." She looks sincerely sad when she says it.
"Yeah.... I..." My voice cracks as my emotions catch up to me and the full reality of what has happened crashes down on me, feeling even more heavy than A tidal wave crashing into me, straight into my heart. My legs buckle as I lose the strength to stand. I feel a pair of small, yet strong hands catch me before I hit the ground. She lowers me gently down. I turn my head and the last thing I see is her beautiful eyes before *BLACK*.
