Chapter 19

LUNA'S POV

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I wake up with my arms and legs in shackles. I'm hanging upright and my feet can't touch the floor. I look groggily around at where I am. It is a small, dark room with plain cement walls and ceilings. There are no windows nor doors that I can see. Over in the corner is a chair that looks way to comfy for..... Wait where am I?
I look around again and notice how small the room is and suddenly I feel like I am suffocating. I twist and turn in my shackles and struggle to not lose control and panic. No matter how much I twist the shackles hold. Then I remember. Duh I'm an Evo! So I think the word cheetah and prepare to break free. It doesn't work.
Instead of changing a sharp volt of electricity passes through my body causing me to scream at the top of my lungs. When it is gone I just lay there panting. The shackles still keep me upright as I dangle there, shaking. Finally I snap.
I scream and twist and turn causing my wrists to bleed. My screams echo off the walls causing it to multiply tenfold. It gives me a pounding headache. I can't stop panicking and then the walls start closing in on me until I cannot move. Until I cannot breathe. Until all I can see is *BLACK*.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When I finally wake up and calm down enough to think clearly I notice something. There is a notch in the wall. It must be a door. So there is a way out if I could just get down.....
I lose track of time in that desolate grey cell where no sunlight hits. It is so moist and damp in here that I can barely breathe for it smells so mildewy and almost makes me gag. I get why people get locked up in here. I would say almost anything to get out.
I try to keep track by counting the seconds but I always lose track in the 5,000's. finally I try to distract m self by reliving my whole life. Remembering as far back as I can and remembering my mistakes. It really helps me until I hear a *bang*.
I turn my head towards the notch to see it slide open. Six people walk in. Five go and stand by the back wall and one walks forward. Victor.
"Stand down, she is not threat", Victor tells the others and they all walk out of the room. Victor walks over to the comfy chair in the corner and sits down in it. He crosses his hands in his lap and looks at me.
"So, let's chat, you and I. We are all alone and I promise to tell you the truth if you the same onto me. Now I have some questions for you. First off, why are you here?"
I look at him and raise my eyebrow, "I thought I made that clear, my family was murdered and I want revenge."
"Oh, but from what I heard, those traitorous scoundrels were killed many years ago, so why now?"
"Because I need support, I thought that would be obvious. Alone we are weak, but together we are strong. You could use me and you know it. That's what kills you. That someone so useful is locked up here", I smirk at the look on his face. Incredibility is his only emotion.
"We'll see about that, but something that cannot be put off is what to do with you. I can't have you locked up here forever, that would be too much work. And I can't let you go, for there is no proof you won't do something stupid again.", I snort but he just continues on, "that leaves me with three options, to let you join but be monitored at all times, which could still be problematic. Second would be to execute you. And third would be to do a prisoner exchange, for their are many Evos they have captured", he looks at me and raises his eyebrow at me. "Trust me, if I was not the leader of the second largest army in the country I would strike you down right now for what you did to me, but I must think logically. So what is your opinion?"
That catches me off guard. I look down at my feet, thinking. Of course I don't want to be in the clutches of those monstrous tyrants, and I for sure don't want to be dead. But do I really want to be watched 24/7? Well, if it means being able to join the Rebels then I'll do it. Though I won't like it.
"Fine", I say looking up at him, "I will consent to being watched, but I have one request."
"Yes?", he says looking worried.
"The person I came with, James Kirus, leave him out of this for he is clueless. Besides your little mind search will prove that."
"Hmmm, well I shall consider your request but I make no promises on the matter", he says turning around and striding towards the door, "I will have your guard here sometime in the next hour. Luna", he turns and looks at me,"don't do anything you will regret." He then turns and walks out the door and once again I am alone in this cramped stupid little room that I have come to hate.
