Chapter 27

I.Y.'S POV

Three days ago, Zeke and I had arrived at the entrance I knew all too well. We had followed their trail here and, by the looks of it, arrived here a day before we did. 

After I knew where they were, we set off to find someone to contact the Saviors and inform them of this news. Fortunately, by sheer luck, we ran into someone who I could not be happier to see. General Bane M. Lucifer.  

Apparently he, and a and convey of hunters at least 1,000 strong are going to patrol a town to check for any stray Evos, but when I told him of Luna and where he went.... Well he decided to drop the town mission, call in about 2,000 more hunters, and storm the rebels hideout. It sounded like a splendid plan to me. 

Currently, we were all sitting at mini camps spread out over a condensed area. We are still a whole unit, but groups of friends and colleagues are sitting in different little groups of fires.  

I was sitting at the commanders fire. There were eight men sitting around me, but the only one I had eyes for was Bane. 

"We shouldn't all come in through in between the main two hills, some of us should come around and slip in between the side hills. There won't be as much room for fighting, but it may catch them off guard and allow us to take the upper hand", he said standing up and walking around the circle of men.  

He points at three of the men and says, "you three will flank he left side", he points to another three, "you three, the right", and finally he points at me and the guy next to me and says, "you two will go into the main gate with me, I must warn you though, it is the most dangerous so guard yourself well", he turns and walks back to his spot, but stays standing. 

He looks around at all of us and shakes his head, then says, "many of us will die, we cannot all live, but, if we play our cards right, we might, just might, take out the largest enemy of the state. So watch your back, watch your men's back, and don't make stupid mistakes, they will kill you. Now! Go get some sleep, it will be a big day tomorrow and we need our sleep. Go!" 

And with that he turned around and strolled into his tent. I turned and headed towards my tent. Luckily, I received my own tent. Otherwise, I would have had to stay with Zeke. He has already found some new "friends". Honestly, if I never saw his face again, it would be too soon. And that voice...... Ugh it is so annoying! 

I reach my tent and pull back the flap. Once I step inside and let the flap fall, I am engulfed by total darkness. I take a deep breath in, and out. Finally, my own bed. Finally, having an actual bed! And the food! It was so much better than what we were having.  

I lay down on my cot and imagine all the situations that could happen tomorrow. I amuse myself by imagining Zeke dying. Then I imagine me catching Luna. I form out strategies on how to do it. I must get her away from the rest, because I can take her alone...... But I wouldn't be surprised if the General gets there first, though. Well, either way, she must be captured, one way or another. And with that, I fell into the first good sleep I have had in a long time.
