𝐂𝐇𝐀𝐏𝐓𝐄𝐑 𝐅𝐎𝐔𝐑:
"you never cease to amaze me Mr. Park"
Chae-Yeong slept very little. Similar to almost every reaper in Jumadeong. Most of the time the reason was nightmares that troubled the Grim Reaper's minds, and Chae-Yeong was no exception. But she wasn't too bothered by that.
After all, she was dead, and dead needs no sleep.
Chae-Yeong wasn't apart from the reapers in Jumadeong who possessed their personal apartments somewhere in Seoul, separate from their workplace. These flats served as places where to eat, sleep, and recover from a hard day's work for the most part. Chae-Yeong had this place right here in Jumadeong. Not far from her she worked.
She was given a modest flat; nothing extravagant or large (her personal wish). Chae-Yeong persisted even when the Director first wanted to oppose, saying that her personal assistant deserved a far fancier place where to live. Chae-Yeong didn't have much growing up, including a fancy house where to live in, so she preferred it to stay that way.
And so, she was granted a small, humble place. The apartment had two rooms. A tiny kitchenette in the corner of one room with table, and a sitting area with a couch, a cozy chair, and a coffee table. The other room was a bedroom. However, Chae-Yeong could swear she had spent more time sleeping on her office couch than in her bedroom.
Nevertheless, having a private space where she could be herself and unbothered by others was good.
If we talk about her office, now, that is perfectly fit for the Jade Emperors' Right Hand. Chae-Yeong's choice of housing may have been modest, but the Director went all out to give her favorite (and only) assistant a grand office.
A huge desk laid on the opposite side of the doors, and behind it was a window that covered the entire back wall. Providing a beautiful view of Seoul. A seating area with cozy couches and armchairs was to the right, with a tiny coffee table in the center. The wall across from the seating area was lined with floor to ceiling bookshelves that held a variety of books, papers, and documents. Before the enormous bookshelf was another table, which was similarly piled high with everything imaginable.
Chae-Yeong wasn't disorganized—far from it. It's just that her position demanded a lot of work from her. She wasn't a manager of Escort Team, or assistant manager of Editing Team. She was the Director's assistant, making her the second-most significant person in Jumadeong, and it was her responsibility to handle any requests the Jade Emperor asked from her.
Someone is breaking the rules? Kim Chae-Yeong will take care of it.
Some team is having problems? Kim Chae-Yeong is going to help resolve them.
The Director is too tired to sign the papers? Well, Kim Chae-Yeong won't have a choice but to do it instead.
Nevertheless, the young woman cherished her work. The reaper job suited her well. And when thinking whether she made the right decision becoming a Grim Reaper instead of being reincarnated, Kim Chae-Yeong knew that this is what she was supposed to do.
