"you brought this upon yourself when you accepted my offer, you wanted your judgement day and now you have her"
DAY ONE
Kim Chae-Yeong didn't want no sappy and sad goodbyes. The moment Ha Dae-Su agreed to her proposition, she stayed only so long to see Park Joong-Gil being released from his chains. When he was free, the reaper moved towards the woman to say something to her; maybe thank her or maybe shout at her angrily for taking this choice.
But Kim Chae-Yeong will never know what Joong-Gil wanted to say to her, because the moment he was free, the woman turned around and disappeared in one of the dark hallways. At first, he feared that she could get lost but then remembered and silently cursed himself. Kim Chae-Yeong knew this place like the back of her palm. If anything, she knew exactly where she's going.
The moment the woman turned the corner, she stopped and leaned against a wall. Now, when she was all alone, Kim Chae-Yeong was finally able to let out everything she held in. Tears started to fall down her cheeks like a waterfall.
She cried for herself and the fact that she's now condemned to spend the rest of her immortal life down here.
She cried for the reapers she will no longer be able to see. (Even though she didn't really make many friends among other reapers, it still hurt.)
She cried for the Director who, even though she didn't show it, were disappointed that Chae-Yeong is leaving.
And most importantly she cried for Park Joong-Gil.
Chae-Yeong didn't know what she was trying to achieve by leaving the moment the reaper was set free. Maybe she thought that he'll be angry at her for not saying goodbye and that way it's going to be easier for her to leave.
She thought that cutting this off so abruptly will hurt less than having a tearful goodbye. Though, the more Kim Chae-Yeong stayed like this, leaning against the wall tears falling down her cheeks, the woman realized that it doesn't get easier. Not even a little bit.
The woman placed her palm over her mouth, trying to silence the sobs. What was she thinking? Why was she here, in this place?
You just saved the man you're destined to be together with, people tend to do that for love, you know.
Right, then if they were destined to be together, why was she down here and he back in the place where he belongs? If they were really destined to be together, there would be some way how they would've ended up together.
The tears suddenly stopped. Breathing heavily, Kim Chae-Yeong was staring at the opposite wall. What if it was all a lie and Park Joong-Gil and her wasn't connected like that? What if it was all a bluff? One real joke, just to mess with them.
