ʚ🀁 Chapter 14 🀅ɞ

Leo still sat on top of the roof as the moon was over their heads, holding Yuichi close to him. Usagi had fallen asleep at his side, but insisted that he stayed next to him until Leo wanted to go back. The turtle blushed at the thought of Usagi not wanting to leave him alone, despite being sleepy. The city lights were bright yet flickering, but it didn't catch Leo's attention. He was just staring at the rabbit next to him in awe. Did they really just kiss almost an hour ago? Is he still dreaming?

He shook out the thought and brushed his hand against Yuichi's face, enchanted by his soft, snow white fur. Though he missed his family every day, he felt way too comfortable wherever his rabbit was. Leo looked up and saw something in the corner of his eye. An illuminated building just grew dark all of a sudden. 'Must be getting later than I thought...?'

Street lights began turning off one by one, the city growing darker by the second. Leo leaned closer to the edge and watched as lights flickered off row after row, and it was only a matter of time before the rest of the city was thrown into pitch black. He gasped and shook Usagi lightly. "Usagi...? Wake up!"

He groaned and sleepily wrapped his arms around Leo's waist. The turtle blushed and shook him again. "Okay that's really cute, but I'm pretty sure the power just got shut down!"

Usagi opened his eyes and sat up, looking around. "That's...not good." He grabbed Leo's hand and stood all the way up. "We'd better get back into the temple, they seem to be the only place that lights candles in there."

Once they made it inside, they both gasped. Ninja cats were surrounding the Kaikishi Temple. "Ninja!" Gen said to them once he saw them. Leo was filled with excitement, but then stopped before he could go talk to them. "Oh right...Bad."

A taller cat woman stood in front of the rest of the ninjas. "Chizu-?" She said, gesturing to one of them. "Dispose of your so-called 'friends'."

'Chizu?!' Everyone thought. Kitsune was hurt the most, lowering her fans for just a second. "But...I thought..."

Leo looked to Usagi, who was astonished. He thought carefully before smiling, having an idea. "Hey, Chizu~"

The girl had a stoned expression on her face, trying not to show her fear of betrayal to either her friends or her boss. She glanced at Leo, who whispered her name. Leo flashed his signature smile of confidence. "Show 'em what it really means to be a ninja."

Her gaze softened and her eyes seemed to smile, and she took off her mask. Chizu walked over to her friends and stood beside them. "If I had to choose between betraying my lifelong boss and my friends...Clearly, I choose my friends."

Lady Fuwa furrowed her eyebrows in evident anger. "Chizu is no longer your ally." She said, turning to the ninjas behind her. "Kill them all."

As soon as those words left her mouth, the cats lunged at the group, determined to fulfill their current mission. Usagi whipped out his sword and wielded it cautiously. "Leo...?"

"Yep." Leo smirked and pulled his swords off of his back. "Finally, ninja against ninja!" Gen and Kitsune glanced at him surprise. "You too?!" Leo smiled nervously and shrugged. "Uhhh yup, kinda the whole time-"

His sentence was cut short when he saw a sword coming at him, and he blocked with his. He opened up a portal underneath them and cut it off before he could fall in. Chizu threw another one down into the floor. "Hey, where'd you teleport her to?"
Leo pointed out the window. "On top of that building! Hope she's not afraid of heights!"

Usagi blocked the two swords that were swinging at his right and left side, yawning. Not because what he was doing was easy and boring, but because he had just woken up. "Ughhh, I wish I could sleep right nowww..."

Kitsune threw one of her fans at a ninja's sleeve and pinned them against the wall. "Focus, rabbit!" Gen backed into a vase and it toppled over, crashing. "Uhh, who's supposed to clean this up...?" Chizu groaned and raised her hand. "That would be me."

Leo looked over at Usagi and noticed his sluggish swinging of his sword, his eyelids heavy. He smirked and shook his head, running over to him. He wrapped his arms around him and kissed his cheek. "Wake up~"

Usagi's eyes widened and a silly smile spread on his face. "I-I'm up now." He looked around and grabbed an electrified cable cord, whipping it around at the ninja cats. They drew back and a couple of them were hit with the electricity. Lady Fuwa growled and snapped her fingers. They began to flee the temple, leaving the group to themselves suddenly. They all sighed with relief, Usagi dropping the cord on the ground.

Chizu turned around to the group and saw everyone except Leo staring at her angrily. She flinched and shook her head, bowing to them. "I deeply apologize for my betrayal, everyone. Please forgive me for lying to you, and deceiving you." Then she turned to Leo and bowed to him as well. "Thank you for not telling anyone, Leonardo Hamato."

Usagi glanced at Leo and saw his unbothered expression. "Did you know about this?" The turtle smiled sheepishly. "Yeah, but I only found out tonight. I promised I wouldn't tell anyone, but I didn't know she would, y'know...Gang up on us."

"And you-!" Gen said, pointing a finger at him. "You've been a ninja all along!" Leo put his hands up in defense. "Hey, not all ninja are bad! Luckily I was trained by someone with good intentions, unlike that cat lady that was just here!"

Kitsune was just standing there, silent. Chizu reached for her but she drew back and walked out the door, not saying a word. Usagi didn't know what to say. "Uhh, so where's Lord Kogane right now? Usually him and the police force are patrolling the streets right now..."

The Ki-Stone flickered and buzzed. "The Ki-Stone...It's losing its power." Chizu said quietly, staring at it. Leo thought for a moment and tapped on Usagi's shoulder. "Hey, how did you see that vision of your ancestor last time? Maybe...It could work again...?"
Usagi lit up and gasped. "Leo, you're a genuis!" He started running to the Ki-Stone and reached his hand out to it.

"Usagi, no! Tetsujin says to never touch the Ki-Stone!" Chizu called out to him.

"This could be our last hope! And plus, I'm not really a listener!" He jumped towards it and as soon as his fingers touched it, a wave of purple mist shot through the city, knocking everyone down with the blow. Suddenly, a vision flashed through everyone's minds.

An image of Miyamoto Usagi and the Shogun appeared, they seemed to be fighting. The rabbit speared his sword into the Shogun so far it sliced into the Ki-Stone and pushed him back. The Ki-Stone began to spark and crackled, and the look on the Shogun's face said it all. He had been defeated. "What have you done?!" The man exclaimed, recoiling in pain. "I have trapped you!" Usagi said simply. The Shogun quickly deformed and turned into what everyone knew as Kagehito, fading away into the Ki-Stone with one last final scream. Several orbs of light went out and drew in the other major Yokai: Karasu-Tengu, O-Dokuro, Tsukumogami and many more. "All of the Yokai..." Says Miyamoto Usagi. A piece of the Ki-Stone fell onto the ground and in front of him, he picked it up and examined it. "Impossible..." A ninja said, coming from behind him. "Your sword has cut the Ki-Stone!"

He stood up quietly. "Willow-Branch is a very special sword." He replied. He stared at the piece once more. "It looks like I have a souvenir..."

Everyone groaned and sat up from the floor. Usagi lifted his head. "I-I saw it! What my ancestor really did..." Leo crawled to him. "Look, I know you blow me away and stuff, but next time give me a warning before you do it literally..." Yuichi rolled his eyes and kissed his forehead. "Sorry about that..."

Gen stood up slowly. "We all saw it, Usagi..." Chizu hoisted herself up with a broom. "I think the whole city saw it...!"

Usagi jumped up and grabbed Leo's hands. "Leo, we did it! Miyamoto Usagi's name is finally cleared!"

"Yeah, but what about the missing piece? Kagehito can't go back home unless we put the piece back in, and it seems that that's what he's after..." Chizu said. Usagi looked down at the hilt of his sword and grinned. "I think I might know where it is...!"
