-IN THE FUTURE-

Leo kept his eyes down as he trudged on with the rest of the group, Usagi staring at him in sympathy. "Watashi no kame..." He looked up, recognizing the few Japanese words that Usagi said often to get his attention. The rabbit stared deeply into his eyes, sending a shock through Leo's body. He recognized this, too. Leo smiled and bumped his shoulder against his. "I'm fine, really. I'm the greatest ninja the world's ever seen." Yuichi chuckled and shook his head. "I hope you're right, Leonardo-san." Leo loved it when he called him that. His heart sprung and he couldn't help but smile. He even almost forgot that Casey Jr. was in his arms, nearly dropping him.

"Hey guys, hurry up! We wanna get to the oasis as soon as possible!" Raph called out, Cassandra standing next to him. She had insisted that she was in good enough shape to get up and go with them. She looked back at the two and smiled, waving. April stood next to her and was happy to see her able to walk.

They had been walking for a few hours and the sun started to come up, Usagi felt the wind blow towards his face. Loose strands of fur swayed, and he closed his eyes. He loved nature more than anyone else did in the group, and they could tell that Neo Edo was practically calling for him. Leo stared at him and melted inside. Usagi spread his arms wide as if he was welcoming the breeze into an embrace, throwing his head back to the sky. It was moments like these where Leo was reminded of what it felt like to be in love. And why his husband was so dear to him. The early rays of daylight spilled over the earth, collecting glints of diamond-like glares in Usagi's eyes. Casey Jr. woke up and stepped onto the ground, wondering what his Sensei was staring at. And there he was. In all his majesty, the Samurai and the Ninja was what caught his eye.

Then he turned to Leonardo, extending his hand. "I believe it's time for me to go now, my love." Leo was suddenly thrown into reality, aware of every rise and fall of his chest as he breathed, every noise he would make when he took his steps toward his partner. They interlocked their hands and stared into each other's eyes before leaning into an embrace, lips touching after what seemed like an eternity.

Everyone else thought it normal and was still walking, but Casey Jr. was stopped in tracks. How was it possible to feel so strongly for another person? What made it so that their love could be electrified throughout the atmosphere?

He watched intently as they pulled away from each other, Leo reluctantly stepping back. He whipped out his odachi, opening a portal to Neo Edo. Usagi smiled and touched his cheek one last time. "Best of husbands and best of men." He blew a kiss to Casey and stepped into the portal, disappearing immediately.

Leo sighed and stared at the now empty space, deep in thought. Casey looked up at him and smirked. "Captain Save-a-hoe~"

He growled and pushed Casey forward. "Watch your mouth or I'll slap it. And don't tell your mom I said that." The boy giggled and ran to his mom, taking her hand.

-PRESENT DAY-

"You're terrible..."

Usagi frowned at Leo's comment, wobbling on the skateboard. "I'm-I'm doing my best here, alright?" The turtle laughed and held his arms as the skateboard scooted forward. "On the count of three, I'm gonna let go, okay?"

"Don't!" Yuichi shouted, gripping Leo's shoulder. "What if I'm not ready?"

"You're always ready, you just gotta tell your brain that!" Leo let go of one arm. "One...?"

"Don't do it..."

"Two...!"

"Leo!"

"Three-!"

Yuichi closed his eyes tight, waiting for the fall. He didn't feel anything...! He opened them and looked down, pushing himself forward with his right foot. "Ah! O-Okay, I'm doing it."

Leo scrunched up his face. "I mean...You know what, yes. You're doing it."

Usagi looked back at him and raised an eyebrow. "Thanks for the encouragement."
Leo laughed and took his hand, pulling him down. "No no, I'm sorry, I was kidding." He looked into his eyes and flashed a charming smile. "Forgive me?"

Usagi smiled and rolled his eyes, poking his cheek. "Yeah yeah. You're forgiven."

Leonardo's eyes lit up and he pulled away, running to his room. "I'll be right back- Don't move!"

"Uh...okay?"

-
Leo came back with his guitar slung around his body. "Let me teach you how to play!"

The rabbit tilted his head and sat down on the floor with him. "What? How will you do that?"
"Easy!" He was handed the instrument, looking down at it with uncertainty. Leo smiled and pointed to a string. "G. Strum it."

Usagi bit his lip and did as he was told, the string emitting a resonating hum. "Good! Now...E...Then B..."

Leo had him go through all the notes, before stopping him. "Now! Play them all together."

He watched as Usagi strummed his fingers though all six notes, smiling with satisfaction. "Woah! I did it!" Leo smiled and sat behind him, guiding his fingers. "Wanna play a song?"

Usagi blushed and nodded, looking away as he smiled. Leo noticed this and turned his head back to him. "What'd I say about hiding your face?" The rabbit looked up at him and smirked. "To stop doing it..." This playful banter between the two of them could go on forever. The turtle sighed and shook his head. "Disobedient."

Usagi didn't realize he was joking and lowered his eyes, looking ashamed. Leo's eyes widened and he set the guitar aside. "Hey, I didn't mean that, you know..."

Yuichi looked back at him and sighed. "Oh...I just...my Auntie made that word sound like a curse, so...It's not your fault." Leo felt a pang in his heart and looked down with a hum. "Well..." He picked the instrument back up, strumming the beginning notes of a song. "You don't have to worry about that anymore, now do you?"

Usagi blinked and felt confused. "What do you mean?"

"I mean..." Leo smiled and leaned closer. "Here comes peter cottontail, a-hoppin down the bunny trail-"
"Ohhh Leoooo..." Usagi groaned as his boyfriend began to sing. "You're so stupid..."

"Now now, you know this song." Leo teased, continuing to play. "I'm waiting on youuu~"

Yuichi grumbled before singing along. "....Hippity hoppin, Easter's on its wayyy..."

"Yeah!" Leo hollered, standing up and walking around him. "Bringin' every girl and boyyy baskets full of Easter joy! Things to make your Easter bright and gayyyyandIwouldknowthatbecauseI'mdatinghimandhe'ssupergaaaayy-"

"LEOOO!!"

"WHAAAT? DID I LIE?!"

Leo laughed and knelt down, looking at the embarrassed rabbit. "Feel better?" Usagi puffed out his cheeks in frustration. "I-I don't know anymore!"
Leo smiled innocently and leaned forward. "Pleaseee?"

Usagi sighed and wrapped his arms around him. "Fine. I don't know how we ever got married in the future." Leo chuckled and laid his head on his shoulder. "Hey, that reminds me..."

The rabbit looked down at him curiously. "Yeah?"

"Do you think that love could last more than a lifetime?" Leo was serious as he asked this, the space between his eyes creasing. It was a heavy question, on account of how long he'd been wanting to ask it. Usagi almost didn't know how to answer. He let out a breath and spoke.

"Well..."
