"Have you seen my son? Have you seen my beautiful boy? Tell him I miss him."

~

"So, you all knew each other in the future?" Usagi asked, sitting with Leo and a couple of new faces now. April nodded. "Yup! And I was a commander! According to Casey Jr. over here." Sitting next to her was a boy about their age with straight black hair. He couldn't seem to stop staring between Leo and Usagi. Leo snapped his fingers to grab his attention. "Hey, Casey? You awake?"

The boy jumped and nodded his head. "Y-yeah, it's just...this might be a little weird, but you were there too, Usagi-sama."

April raised her eyebrows. "Usagi-sama? Like a samurai?" Yuichi gasped loudly. "I WAS A SAMURAI??!" Leo shook him by the shoulders. "I knew you could do it!!"

Casey smiled. "Y-yeah, you inspired so many people to join the fight in so many different ways! New York never had an ally like you before, but Master Leonardo helped you gain everyone's trust, and they loved you! And I guess so did Sensei..."

Leo smirked and gave Yuichi a fist bump. "Oh yeah, I'm only the best smooth talker out there." Casey chuckled nervously. "Uhh I also meant that you loved Usagi...A lot." April snickered and covered her mouth, confusing them both. "What? What's funny?" The rabbit asked.

"Sensei...You two were together...Like, married."

Leo and Usagi had blank stares on their faces before their eyes widened. "OH." Usagi said, hiding his heated face from Leo. The turtle did an aggressive victory dance. "THE RIZZLER. LETS GOOO-"

Casey Jr. sighed happily. "The two of you together again...It's a dream come true!" Usagi looked up again slowly. "Together...Again?"

Leo paused with his dancing and lowered his eyes. "O-oh...Him too, huh?" April smiled sympathetically and grabbed his hands. "Luckily that future is long gone and non-existent. You changed your fate, remember?"

Yuichi put a hand on Leo's shoulder and turned his attention to Casey. "W-what were we like? Together?" The boy smiled. "You guys were the best leaders this world could've asked for. You both seemed to think alike a huge percent of the time, the only thing you two argued about was whose turn it was to keep watch outside of our safe house. Sometimes, you'd both end up keeping watch all night.

"You guys made married life look like an absolute dream! Yuichi Usagi was almost always oblivious to when Leo threw love and compliments at him, and Sensei couldn't take it when Usagi-sama did the same."

The two glanced at each other and laughed out loud. "That makes sense, even now." Leo said. Casey looked between them once more and sat up straighter. "Do you...wanna hear more...?"

-FUTURE-

Usagi walked inside his room and took off his shoulder pads, sighing as he sat down on his bed. It was late, he had guarded the walls outside all day. He leaned up against the board, his tied-back ears pressed against the hard wood. The room was nearly pitch black except for the lanterns strung on the ceiling, similar to the ones back in Neo Edo. Usagi could hear Michelangelo and Donatello shuffling in and out of each room, talking back and forth to each other as they passed. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a piece of paper, a drawing of him. 'Mikey drew this...' He thought, smiling to himself. They were so young and happy back then, unaware of what awaited them. He thought about his Auntie, sighing with content that he had gotten the chance to apologize to here before the world was thrown into chaos.

"You're still up?"

Yuichi looked up and saw Leo standing in the doorway. Leo looked young and old at the same time, his chiseled chin and tired eyes sharpened by the shadows that surrounded him. Though he stood in front of the yellow light that came from the dining room, his silhouette seemed to shine in Usagi's presence. He stood up and walked over to him. "Yeah, I just got back in. I'm sorry it took so long, but those things are restless." He traced his finger up and down his plastron, making Leo blush slightly. "W-well I half expected you to knock out as soon as you hit the bed. Aren't you tired?"

Usagi shrugged. "I am. But maybe I wanted to wait for you." Leo smiled and stared into his eyes. "You didn't have to. You never do." The rabbit giggled and took his hand. "Come on, the sun's almost setting." He'd made this their new nightly routine, even if they didn't get the chance to do it every night.

They walked out and waved to Donatello and Mikey in the dining room. "Do you guys know where Casey is? We were playing hide 'n' seek and I never found him..." Leo said. Mikey chuckled and drew back his cape, revealing a little boy stuck to his leg. "I may have helped a little!" Casey looked up with big eyes and gave a toothy smile. "I win."

Usagi reached down and picked him up. "Come on, I wanna show you something cool. Do you want to come see?" Eight year-old Casey's eyes were filled with sparkles of excitement and he nodded his head. "Y-yes sir!"

He turned to Leo and kissed his cheek, running his hand down his face. "Ready, Master Leonardo?"

~
Leo took Casey in his arms and sat down carefully. Yuichi however, stood at the edge of the building, his arms spread wide open. He was more bold when it came to things like this, in fact, it brought him comfort. Casey sat on Leo's lap and stared at the rabbit, he was currently humming a song. The boy had always looked up to him, but right now it felt like a privilege to know him like this. Not even Casey could get over how majestic the sunset's orange glow made them both look. Leo's small smile only grew bigger as he glanced between the beautiful sky and the beautiful rabbit. Usagi's ears were loose now, swaying in the breeze. The song that he sang softly made him smile too, it seemed to bring him back to a lovely memory.

"You see, Case? As messed up and terrible as this world is, the only way to truly keep going is to find beauty in it. As much as you can. Do you understand?" Leo asked. Casey thought for a moment before nodding his head. "I do, Sensei."

Yuichi smiled and sat down next to him. "You're a warrior just like your mother. Never give up." Usagi poked the boy in the chest, pointing to his heart. Casey giggled. "I won't." Leo swung his legs slowly, the way that Usagi used to when they had first met. "Close your eyes...Have no fear..."

Usagi recognized the tune and sang along. "The monster's gone...He's on the run, and your daddy's here..." Casey didn't quite understand how or why, but something about them both together made him want to cry. Tears of joy, he thought. He didn't, but that's what it felt like. Like his heart was attached to a helium balloon.

"Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful...Beautiful boy..."

They all began to sway to the rhythm of the song, though Casey had never heard this song before, so he just did what Usagi and Leo did. "Darling, darling, darling...Darling Sean..."
