Loki rushed towards it, and breathing hard, picked it up from the pedestal. To his horror, he saw his skin turning a shade of blue, the color creeping up from his hands to his whole body, the markings of a Jötunn set upon his hands.

"So I'm a monster." Loki thought, disgusted with himself that he was one of those monsters people tell tales of to scare their children about at night.

"STOP." A voice shouted, stopping his train of thought.

Stiffening his back and putting the casket back on its pedestal, Loki asked his father, "Am I cursed?"

"No." Odin calmly replied.

"What am I?" He asked again, gruffly.

"You're my son," Odin answered.

Loki turned around his skin a brilliant shade of blue. His red eyes were filled with tears, looking like two rubies caught on fire, and his face carried an expression of betrayal and hurt. His body was stiff as if recoiling itself for an impact.

"What more than that?" Loki demanded, his Aesir form appearing again as he set the casket down. He started walking towards Odin who stood silently, his stride determined.

"The casket wasn't the only thing you took from Jotunheim that day was it?" Loki asked.

Odin stood silent, his eye filled with regret about what was happening. He wished for Frigga or Synthia to be here so that they could've calmed Loki down.

"No." Odin replied, "In the aftermath of the battle I went into the temple, and I found a baby. Small for a giant's offspring, abandoned suffering and left to die. Laufey's son." He revealed.

"So I was left abandoned again, left like a runt." Loki thought, heartbroken.

"Laufey's son," Loki repeated, his voice sounding resigned.

"Yes." Odin agreed.

Loki started breathing heavily, and his sorrow soon turned to anger, "Why? You were knee-deep in Jötunn blood, Why would you take me?" He demanded.

"You were an innocent child," Odin replied. Loki being the god of lies, could see the hidden meaning behind that answer.

"No, you took me for a purpose. What was it?" Loki asked, fearing the worst. Odin remained silent, affirming Loki's suspicions on the matter.

"TELL ME!" Loki shouted, tears running down his face.

"I thought we could unite our kingdoms one day bring about an alliance, bring about permanent peace, through you." Odin ashamedly replied.

"W-what?" Loki stuttered, his gaze full of hurt and his emerald eyes full of tears.

"But those plans no longer matter." Odin tried, his eye cast towards the ground not being able to see his son's pain.
