Synthia woke up with a hand running through her hair and a splitting headache. She slowly opened her eyes and saw Frigga sitting near her head, tears were running down her face as she lightly sobbed. Suddenly all the recollection of the past incidents came back to memory and Synthia felt the crushing weight of loss settle upon her heart, her eyes started welling up with tears as they simultaneously started rolling down her cheeks.

She sat up and hugged Frigga tightly, both crying over the loss of someone dearest to them.

"H-h-he's g-gone m-mother. I c-couldn't s-save him. He left me." Synthia cried, her body shaking from the force of her sobs.

"shh my child, it'll be alright." Frigga tried comforting, but knew it is all false hope, nothing will ever be the same without Loki.

"I couldn't even tell him about our child, he didn't even know he was going to be a father." Synthia wailed. Frigga could hear her heart break at this, her eyes welling up with more tears as she hugged Synthia close to her chest, not being able to see her so devastated.

Soon Frigga left, while ensuring Synthia in Melody's care who on arriving immediately took Synthia in her arms, lovingly shushing her and speaking broken assurances in her ear.

"Do take care of her dear, I must go see that food is prepared for her." Frigga said and left wiping her own tears of sorrow over the loss of her son.

"Oh Synthia, I'm so sorry for this. Please stop crying, Loki wouldn't want you to cry over him." Melody lovingly tried to assure. But Synthia could not stop the flow of tears running down her face, she felt as if her a part of her heart has been torn away from her, she felt that she too was to blame for Loki's death, he was just within her hand's reach, if only she had reached more if only she had held out to him. His last words to her still freshly embedded in her mind playing like a broken record player before her eyes.

"Mels, can you please take me to Loki's room. i don't wish to stay in my room." Synthia pleaded with tears in her eyes.

"Of course darling come let's go." Melody replied and led her to Loki's room.

On reaching the doors to his chamber, Synthia took a deep breath and pushed them open.

"Leave me Mels, I wish to spend some time alone." Synthia requested. Melody nodded with concern in her eyes as she watched Synthia enter the room with a broken expression on her face and closed the doors behind her.

Back in Loki's room Synthia could pretend that Loki was alive and would be coming to his chambers soon, yet the reality could not be covered and Synthia had to accept that her Loki shall never return to her, for he now feasted in Valhalla till eternity. She stood in the center of his room as she replayed all the sweet memories they had made here. How they would stay in here for hours on end reading books and scriptures in each other's arms, how they would often run about in his room trying to cause mischief with their laughter reverberating across the chamber's walls, how they would sleep in each other's arms in comfort and safety with spoken assurances of love after passionately making love to each other in the nights.

All these memories were now a remembrance of the past that were now causing a dull ache in Synthia's heart as she stood there. Suddenly a curious looking velvet box caught her eyes on his desk beside which laid a bit of parchment that has Loki's elegant script written all over it.

She picked up the letter and read:

"My Darling Love,

It feels like yesterday and an eternity all in one when I approached on those training grounds and you gave me a hand of friendship. I have always had you standing by my side in all incidents, you stood by me, accepted me, loved me unconditionally and never judged me for what I was.
