Byron POV

I walked into homeroom just as the bell rang. I took my seat next to Logan as our teacher began calling attendance. It was a cool fall day and the leaves had just started falling off of the trees. The ground was consumed in red, orange, yellow and a few green leaves. There were only a few spots of grass outside by the picnic tables.

"Hey, happy birthday, Byron!" Logan told me the second I sat down with a much exaggerated look on his face.

"Why thank you, good sir," I saw with a small bow and a sarcastic tone.

"So, you excited for your birthday celebration with the guys tonight?" He asked.

"Yeah, it's going to be epic. Up all night playing Xbox eating whatever food we want."

"Yeah, can't wa-"Logan's voice came to a halt as we were handed 2 pink slips. Detention, for talking in homeroom. Our school was very hesitant with giving out detentions and I had never gotten one before. But, today, Mrs. Langstead must've been in a bad mood. I looked down at the slip ad shook my head. Getting detention on a Friday is horrible enough but on the Friday of an epic hang-out with the guys makes it even worse.

                "This sucks," Logan exclaims.

"I know, but we gotta tell the guys to cancel our plans," I say in response.

Later that day, Logan and I walk over to the picnic tables to meet the guys at our usual lunch table. Chase and Sam are already sitting down with their lunches. Sam is biting a piece of a cut up apple that he usually brings to lunch while Chase has his fork in his hand but his eyes are directed towards Aurora who is sitting at another picnic table laughing with Elaine. Chase cuts his gaze quickly as the teacher who is on lunch duty walks over to them and hands Elaine and Aurora a pink slip.
