Amber's POV
(8 months after with Joe)
Joe and I have been on the move for weeks, just trying to survive after our last encounter with people. I miss my dad, very much. Not a day goes by where I don't miss him. But the one thing that keeps me going is my arrows. Through out the weeks, I've been able to work on my aiming with my gun and arrows. Gotta stay sharp.
Everytime I watch my arrow hit the tree, it makes me feel a step closer to him, to dad. The more I shoot, the more the arrow hits, the less I feel the need to run back in hopes of finding him.
I know he's not back there, he's long gone, somewhere, out there will Uncle Merle by his side, fighting.
"Miss you dad."
Joe and I have been walking for a few hours now, and it's beginning to get dark.
"How you holding up sweetheart?"
Joe asked as he turned over his shoulder."I'm fine." I replied, staring back down towards my bow in hand.
"Hey Joe?"
"Mhmm." He mumbled, turning his head to the side as he continued to walk forward.
"Can we stop? For the night? It'll get dark soon. It won't be safe." I suggested as I stopped in my tracks. Soon Joe stopped as well and let out a sigh. He turned around and began to look at the surrounding."Alright. How about over by those trees over there? We can start up again in the morning." I nodded in response, earning one back. Following him into the woods, we soon settled by a tree. I began to build the fire as Joe went to find some fire wood. I set myself by the fire, slowly having it build up with the twigs I found near by.
I took a glance over towards my backpack and pulled out Daryl's flannel. I would always sleep with it, sometimes I would wear it, just to keep me warm. I wrapped it around my body and waited for Joe to return as it's been quite a while.
"Joe?" I called whispered/shouted. No response.
"Joe?" Nothing again.
"He wouldn't leave. Would he?" I thought when I suddenly heard a twig break. I quickly reached for my bow and had an arrow ready as I looked around slowly when I heard it again.
Turning around quickly, I let the arrow go, hearing it hit wood, then Joe appeared with some wood and my arrow sticking out of one."You've got aim, even with limited light. That's good. I've taught you well. But try not to take out my eye next time alright?" I nodded, letting out a sigh.
"What?" He asked, letting the wood drop.
"Nothing, I just thought you decided to leave me." He paused.
"I- I wouldn't leave you." He said as he continued to lower the wood onto the ground.
"Swear?" I said, slowly wrapping myself back up with Daryl's flannel as I watched him sit down across from me. He hesitated, but then spoke.
"I- I swear."
_______________
I was sitting in my cell, starting to panic since it's a quarter past 6 and Daryl still hadn't come back from the medicine run yet. He was suppose to be back this morning. I let out a small cough which led to non-stop coughing. I bent over the edge of my bed and began to cough down towards the floor until I saw a shadow enter the cell before feeling a hand rest upon my back.
