Amber's POV

We were in Joe's car, stuck in traffic behind other cars who had the same idea we had. Cars after cars, just waiting to be lead out of the city. Soon the traffic completely stopped all cars in place. Joe put the car in park and just sat back.

"Joe. What are we gonna do now?" I asked from the back seat.

"I don't know sweetie but we'll be outta here, I hope soon." He said, reaching his arm out to pat my knee. I nodded and looked out the window to see others standing outside their cars, waiting.

I turned away from the window and down to my bag in my lap. At the corner of my eye, I saw a fairly large man step infront of a women , shutting their car door. She had grey hair, cut very, very short. She looked like she was about to cry before she walked away and back to the end of the car. There sat 2 kids, a boy and a girl playing chess I think, and another lady with brown medium length hair.

"Are you alright swee-" Joe was cut off by a explosion erupted from outside the car.

"Stay here!" He said before stepping out of the car and following a crowd of people to the edge of the road. More eruptions came and people around me began to panic. I unbuckled the seat belt and opened the door when Joe came running back, followed by screaming.

"RUN! RUN AMBER RUN!" He yelled before grabbing hold of my backpack, dragging me along with him.

____________

I have been running a while, passing nothing but trees. One after another after another.

"Amber wait!" I heard Rob yell from behind. I slowed down my pace, just enough so Rob and Hunter could catch up.

"We don't know what we're going up against. We should slow down and think about this." I slowed down my pace until it came to a complete stop along side with Hunter.

"Hunter, it's a freaking helicopter." I said looking up at him. He was about to protest when we heard Angie speak.

"Umm, guys. You might wanna see this." We walked over to where she stood, and there it was, a smoking helicopter.

"Oh my god." I said, taking in the scene. I and Jackson took a few steps forward when I heard the sound of chains behind us.

"Shhh. Everyone stop moving." I whispered/yelled. Everyone quieted down then I heard it again followed by foot steps. We all looked at each other, knowing what had to be done. We split up, each going in to directions. Jackson and I took right, Rob, Angie, and Hunter took left.

Jackson and I hid behind some bushes behind a tree. Soon enough the sound of the footsteps belonged to 2 women. A blonde women, followed by a black women with a katana on her back. She had chains wrapped around her hand, and when I saw what was connected on the other end, I froze in shock. There were 2 infected chained by the neck on the other end with their arms and mouths cut off.

"What the hell?" I whispered to no one in particular. She said something towards the blonde women, but I was unable to make out what she said. The blonde women soon sat down on the ground a few feet away from us and just watched the other women walk towards the helicopter. She happened to chain the infected to the tree infront of us before she left.

"What do you think she's doing?" Jackson whispered into my ear. I shook my head, in other words, I don't know. Her footsteps then stopped, then everything went quiet. But that was soon broken when a sound of cars came down the fields towards us. The black women soon rushed back to her friend and crouched down along side her.
