Daryl's POV

I was out in the field, helping Rick and Hershel put up the pigs pin when I heard laughter come from the courtyard behind us. I looked up to find Amber holding Judith and giggling along with Beth about something that Carl was holding in his hands.

She began to rock Judith back and forth on her hip, then handed her back over to Beth as she and Carl headed into the fields where we were.

"They seem to be getting closer. Don't ya think?" I turned my head to find that Rick was the one to speak. He smirked.

"They're good kids. They work well together." Hershel commented from his crouched position.

"They've both been through alot. I'm happy to see them happy." Rick commented.

"Me too." I said as I smirked to myself, due to Amber punching Carl in the arm. I looked back down to the wood I was hammering when I heard my name being called.

"Dad!" I turned my head to find Amber running towards me with a slight grin on her face.

"Run! Run Amber!" I said as she ran towards me with a smile on her face.

____________

"Beth! Beth! Run! Run! Pry open a window! Grab your shit!" I shouted as a hoard of walkers came charging at me.

We left the shed, after burning it of course. We then came upon this old house, that I believe was a funeral home, place thing, and we'd been stayin here for a while up until now. Beth and I were just enjoying our food as nightfall hit when they all came at once, the walkers.

"I'm not gonna leave you!" She shouted back at me.

"Go out. Go up the road. I'll meet you there. Go!" Then she was off.

I was chased down to the basement where the bodies were and got trapped. I pushed myself up against the wall and used the tables with a body on it as a shield. The walkers poured in and I just stabbed every one that reached for me.

I managed to catch a gimpse of an opening behind the hoard of walkers, thinking quickly, I crawled in between the walkers legs and broke free.

I stabbed a few in order to get to my crossbow and then bolted up the stairs. I managed to clear most of them and broke for the back door. I ran as fast as I could through the yard and was met with a road.

As I drew closer, my bag of jewelry, money and other crap was splattered all over the ground but Beth was nowhere to be found. My head perked up the second I heard the sound of a car door shutting, only to see a black car with a white cross painted on the back window, speed away.

"Beth! Beth!" I screamed as I followed the car, watching it crawl farther and farther away from me.

"Beth!!"

____________

The sun has risen and it's been hours since I've been running, trying to catch up to the car. A crossroad then came into view as I ran closer and closer to it. The second I was in the center of it, I stopped, dropping my crossbow along with myself towards the ground. I just sat there trying to catch my breath when I began to cry.

In that moment, I realized that I finally have nothing left. I've lost everything. So I just sat there. I didn't move, I didn't do anything for a few good hours.

The sun began to beam down at me through my layers of clothes, causing sweat to form across my forehead. Qith my head still down, I heard voices erupt around me.
