Amber's POV

(A year and a half without Daryl)

"Come on. She's a child for crying out loud. She was at the brick of death if we didn't catch her. Come on man. She has no one." I heard Tyler speak through the door of the tent that I was placed in. I was told to wait in here until further notice.

I had been traveling with Tyler and his friend for many days now, ever since they found me. Earlier this morning, they brought me back with them. They said that they needed to talk to their leader but they said that they were sure that I would be able to stay without any problems. I then heard another man respond.

"Where is she?" He asked.

"She's in there. Come on. You have to let her stay." Tyler declared. I then saw a shadow, a very tall shadow approach the tent, followed by the sound of the zipper being pulled open. I quickly reached for the knife that was in my boot and pulled it out just as the sound of the zipper stopped. The door opened, revealing a tall man, muscular, with curly black hair and a round face. I held the knife out towards him, throwing him off by suprise.

"Wow. Easy now. Easy. I'm not gonna hurt-"

"Am I staying or not?" I stated, staring dead into the man's eyes.

"I haven't decided yet."

"Then let me go." I barked, throwing him off by suprise once more. He then paused and just stared at me. He glanced down towards the ground then back at me.

"I can't do that." He said, looking back at me.

"Why?"

"I can't let you die. No like this. You're to young." He stated, lowing his hands.

"Why do you care if I live or die?" He smiled.

"I use to have a daughter and I lost her. Now let me help you." I lowered my knife and just looked at the man.

"My name's Andrew. Yours?"

"Amber. Amber Dixon. Age 10."

"Well Amber, aren't we glad we found you. Welcome."

____________

I watched the door shut just as Gareth's voice cut out. Turning to face the room, I found a women standing with two men behind her. She scoffed as she saw me.

"This way." Was all she said as she turned and left the room, leaving the two men behind. Reluctantly, I followed, having her lead me into another room which seemed to be an infirmary. There was a bed on one side of the room while the rest demonstrated one for operations.

"You two may leave. I've got it from here." She said as the two men who had been following after us turned and left the room, shutting the door behind them.

"Sit on the bed. Take off your jacket and your shirts. I need to do an examination." I stood still. Not hearing any movement, she turned and looked at me.

"Where did you take the boy?" I asked, glaring. She just sighed and walked over to me, grabbing my shoulders and ushering me to the bed.

"He's down the hall. No harm is gonna be done to either of you. You're people in that car however, will be." I gripped her arm.

"Ah, ah, ah." She said as she swiftly pulled a gun from her hip and pointed it to my head.

"They said no harm to be done, but if you try anything stupid, I won't hesitate to put a bullet through your brain. All I gotta say is you were tainted meat." I just glared as I freed her from my grip. She returned the gun to her hip and proceeded to take off my layers of clothing.
