Amber's POV

Daryl, Rick, Hershel and majority of the group had left to speak to the Governor and try to solve this feud between the two communities while the rest of us stayed behind to keep everything in check.

"Amber, Carl, come here. You guys go stash these at the loading docks all right?" Glenn's voice called out towards us. Both our heads nodded before grabbing the boxes of ammo and headed towards the loading docks.

"You okay?" Carl asked me once we made it to one of the loading docks.

"Yeah, I'm fine. Why?" I asked, placing the box next to the other ones on the ground.

"You just seem worried." I looked over at him with a slight sigh. I had just placed the last box when he spoke again.

"Our dads will be fine. They can take care of themselves. They always do and come back fine. Don't worry." I looked at him with a reassuring smile.

"You know, having another kid around here is actually quite fun." I said. We laughed.

"I honestly didn't think we would get along so well." Carl stated as we made our way to the other docks.

"Why is that?" I asked, placing a box of ammo to the ground before turning around and walking beside Carl again.

"You seemed quite distant, you know, someone who doesn't like to be around people." I laughed.

"I was for a while, still kinda am but you guys are family to Daryl so I gotta open up just a little right?" Carl smiled.

"I'm glad my dad talked me into having you come along with us the other day. I was really against it." I stopped in my tracks.

"Against it?" He nervously chuckled.

"You're quite intimidating you know." I laughed.

"Plus, I didn't know if I should trust another kid, being in the world we live in now." I nodded in agreement.

"I'm learning how too." We both just laughed and continued our way back to the cellblock, talking back and forth, sharing small stories and interests until we heard shouting. We hurried the rest of the way to find Merle and Glenn fighting at the mention of Rick and Daryl.

"My dad can take care of himself." Carl spoke, earning a glare from Merle.

"Sorry son, but your dad's head could be on a pike pretty soon."

"Merle!" I called out, having him turn his head towards me.

"Don't say that to him." Maggie said, looking back towards Carl and I. Without another word, Carl turned and walked back into the corridor, I'm guessing to his cell. I turned my attention back to Merle.

"So can mine. You should know." He scoffed.

"Don't give me that look." I rolled my eyes at his words.

"Look, he's your brother, I get that but just leave it to Glenn to decide on how things go. He's the one Rick left in charge." With that said, I turned around and went to find Carl and see if I could apologize for Merle.

"Who the hell are you to make demands like that to me?" I heard him yell before groaning and telling someone to not touch him.

"That's my decision and that's final." Was the last words I heard before the sound of a door slamming shut.

____________

"Carl?" I knocked on the wall having him turn his head to look at me, followed by a nodd, allowing me to come in.
