Chapter 9. Death Chaser

Y/N POV

I slowly open my eyes realizing I am perfectly fine I look up to see that Death gun had been shot. Someone shot him again making him jump taking out his sniper. I heard what sounded like a bullet hit the ground but it was a smoke grenade and I panicked.

I closed my eyes feeling someone grab my arm and hearing my rifle get picked up I slowly began to opened my eyes and spotted Kirito water slowly built up in my eyes "Wait Sinon is still out there!" I shouted.

"It's fine she's at the kart." Kirito said and I shook my head tears beginning to fall.

"Kirito I'm scared it's like SAO all over again I can't die in here!" I shouted shutting my eyes tightly. I felt Kirito hold me closer.

"You're not gonna die I swear Y/n I'll protect you but please trust me." He whispered kissing my forhead setting me down in the front seat of the kart and my sniper in the back. I slowly opened my eyes as I realized I was set down and slowly gaining feeling back in my arm. He set me down on a green kart. I look in back of me to see Sinon eyes watery and she sat next to her sinper.

I see him pay for the kart allowing it to turn on. "G/n I-I'm sorry I just I couldnt do it." Sinon said in between cries and I stared at her slowly nodding.

"It's okay.." I said slowly unsure if I even meant it myself. Thoughts began to rush through my mind as I remembered the accident that happened in SAO and how many people died due to the fight with laughing coffin. I begin to shake hugging myself. 

Feeling stuck in my thoughts I hear muffled cries and I open my eyes looking next to me seeing Kirito turned around facing the back helping Sinon guide her hand his hand on top of hers to help her shoot the gun. I see her face staned with tears and a hint of red dusted on her cheeks but it wasnt from crying..

I feel my heart ache a bit but shook my head reminding myself he wouldn't choose her we spent 2 years in sao together been through so much he wouldn't leave right?

As I finish my though there was a huge explosion making me yelp and cover my ears Sinon doing the same as she turned back around along with Kirito looking forward again.

Mini time skip to the cave

Sinon looked tired and I cant say I blame her she took her rifle slowly walking into the cave and sitting down. I did the same but on the oppisite wall bringing my knees close to my chest watching as Kirito stretched.

"What happened back there? He popped up out of nowhere, Is their a type a skill that hides you from other players?" Kirito asked walking next to Sinon taking a seat near her.  

"Yea, there is. It's a skilled called Meta-material optical camouflage." She said looking at the floor. 

I nodded "We'll be okay for now..Even if he uses it..the sand will allow us to at least hear his foot steps and we'll see his prints." I finished off and looked at Sinon cause it seemed like she was gonna say something. 

"Hey, Kirito. Do you think there's even a slight change Death gun died in that explosion?" She asked glancing at him and he shook his head.

"No the second that truck blew up he jumped off the robot horse so theres no way he died in that he had to have shielded himself in a way." He answered.

I was aout to say something but Sinon beat me to it first. "When G/n was in his sight at the statdium, How did you know she was in trouble and How did you get there so fast? You both had time to help me and her." 

I looked at Kirito also curious he put his hands behind his head "We were wrong about Jushi x being death gun I took one look and knew it wasnt Death gun. It was actually really obvious. I know a Women when I see one the second I seen her I knew we missed something. I quickly took her out and I looked around since I was on top of the building I noticed G/n laying on the floor." He paused for a seconf looking at me smiling.
