Summer break 1985, the brand new Hawkins mall just opened and it's doors flood with teens and adults alike. It's 7pm will,Lucas,max and y/n are waiting outside for Mike. The bushy haired boy eventually makes his way to the mall and leaves his bike on the rack and walks over to the group waiting for him.

"Your late" Lucas says annoyed.

"Again" he ads

"Sorry" Mike apologises out of breath.

"We're gonna miss the opening" will says annoyed

"Yeah if you guys keep whining about it let's go" Mike then signals to go inside.

"If you guys keep whining about it wha wha wha" Lucas mocks.

"Just please stop talking dude" Mike interrupts.

"Let me guess kiss kiss you were busy" Lucas jokes making kissing sounds with his lips.

"Oh yeah real mature Lucas" Mike replies rolling his eyes.

"Oh el I wish we could make out forever and never hang out with any of our friends" Lucas jokes.

"Lucas stop" max whines

"Will and y/n think it's funny" Lucas says turning around to look at them.

"Yeah because it is" y/n agrees.

"Yeah it's so funny that I want to spend romantic time with my girlfriend" Mike explains.

"I'm spending romantic time with my girlfriend" y/n answers putting her hand around max. The group then pushes past everyone on the escalator trying to get to their destination as fast as possible. Mike leads the pack apologising to everyone he pushes past. While walking throughout the mall bumps into someone.

"Hey watch it!" They say.

"Yeah watch it nerds" Erica mocks.

"Isn't it past your bedtime" Lucas replies.

"Isn't it time you died" Erica said earning a laugh from her friends.

"Psycho"

"Butthead"

"Mall rat"

"Fart face"

Lucas then sticks his tongue out trying to get the last laugh with his younger sister.

"Yeah real mature Lucas" will says pulling him along. Mike leads the group into scoops ahoy where they're greeted with Robin looking annoyed as Mike frantically rings the bell on the counter.

"Hey dingus your children are here" robin yells sarcastically. Steve then opens the back window to revel himself in a sailors outfit.

"Again, seriously?" Steve asks. Mike then rings the bell one last time to get on Steve's nerves as he ushers the teens though the back door to the cinema.

"I swear if anybody hears about this-" Steve says getting cut off.

"We're dead" the group says in unison.

The groups makes it into the cinema halls and all walk into the first screening of day of the dead. Since Mike showed up late the previews were already playing and all the seats were packed so the group couldn't sit together. The group split off and pushed past. Y/n and max sat together in the row in front of Mike, Lucas and will.

"See Lucas we made it" Mike says.

"We missed the previews" Lucas says disappointed.

"Don't need it, fart face" max mocks turning back around to the screen. Will and Mike open Wills backpack to reveal snacks and soda which they hand out to each other and then pass down over Max's shoulder. The movie begins and y/n opens a bag of skittles. Everyone begins watching the movie as max and y/n share the skittles. Suddenly the movie goes down and the frame rate starts dropping causing an uproar in frustration and disappointment from the audience.

"Oh come on" max and y/n whine. They don't know but the whole of starcourt, and Hawkins have a power cut at the same time causing chaos. Finally the lights turn back on and the movie resumes playing causing the audience to clap and cheer. Max and y/n both look at each other smiling happy that the movies back. Max and y/n continue to share the skittles as they both jump up spilling some on the floor from the jump scare on screen. Max then grabs y/n hand and continues to hold it throughout the rest of the movie squeezing tighter when she gets frightened. Once the movie had finished max and y/n waited outside the theatre for the boys. As soon as they exited the movie theatre the mall was almost empty there were only a few food stores open.

"Hey you guys go ahead and go home we're going to grab a quick drink" max tells the boys.

"Oh okay see you tomorrow at Dustin's" Mike replies. The group waves goodbye and walks out of the mall. Max grabs y/n's hand and walks to the orange julius counter and order 2 drinks and then sit down next to the fountain laughing and talking about the movie. Once they finished the drinks they headed to scoops where Steve and Robin were closing up. The 4 teens walked over to the parking lot but as soon as max saw Billy's car approaching she dropped y/n's hand and whispered.

"Sorry, il see you tomorrow okay" max says with a smile. Max then walks to Billy's car as Steve, Robin and y/n walk to Steve's.
