Scientists' pov (third person):
The assigned caretaker of the mutant approached the scene and noticed the creature pinned to the floor by its arms, it let out a small whimper and looked terrified. "What are you doing?!" they were extremely concerned by that. "You can't just pin him down, that's awful! Let me take him back to his room, you know how painful that is for him?! His shell's really sensitive, that might hurt him!" The guard holding the mutant down picked it up and handed it over to the caretaker, then backed off.
"It was about to escape, there was no other option that was fast enough." The guard explained.
"The poor bean's traumatized now!" The caretaker held it close, it struggled for a few seconds but gave up relatively quickly. Its fast heartbeat could be felt just by holding it, it shook slightly and closed its eyes. "Look at him! He's so upset, how could you?!" the caretaker walked back to its room and sat down, holding it close. "It's okay, you're safe now. Everything's going to be okay. You just wanted to explore, I know buddy." they patted its head, it moved away from them as soon as it was given a chance. It hugged its knees in the corner of the room, eyeing the caretaker suspiciously as it kept its shell against the wall. "Did you get hurt? Can I check?" the creature didn't respond at all, no matter what.
"We still need to do the test. It's fine, the guard made sure to be careful with it." The scientist in charge of experiments went over. "This time, don't let go of it. If you need to, tell me to hold onto it."
"Okay." The caretaker nodded, looking at the creature again. It still looked upset, it had barely calmed down from what'd happened, its breathing hadn't reregulated or anything. "He needs a break though, it could ruin the results otherwise."
"That's fair." The scientist nodded, then left the room. The caretaker went over to the mutant slowly.
"I'm sorry about all of that, I know it's scary... I know you want to go back wherever you're from, but this place is safer as long as you behave." They spoke softly to it. It seemed to somewhat pay attention to the caretaker, almost like it understood what was being said. "You'll get enough rest here, enough food, and we'll make sure to not give you too much water." It didn't respond to that whatsoever, it didn't show any reaction or anything like that. Once it seemed a bit calmer, the caretaker went and picked it up, hugging it. "I'm here for you, it'll be okay." it looked somewhat annoyed. It did calm down after a while and it was put back down, the caretaker held its hand. "Follow me, okay?"
"You finally ready?" The scientist walked in, then noticed. "Oh, you are. Great, you two follow me." they led the way through the halls, the creature seemed to be observing every inch that it could see as it reluctantly followed. The footsteps echoed through the hallway, creating an eerie sound that seemed to put the mutant on edge. "Here we are." The scientist opened the door to a relatively open room, the only things in there were a control panel, a computer screen connected to cameras that were off at the moment, and a human sized cylindrical pod that functioned like an elevator that could only be controlled by the control panel. The caretaker let go of the mutant's hand so it could do anything while talking to the scientist privately.
"This will take him to the new environment, right?" The caretaker asked and looked at the mutant, which stayed as far from the pod as possible.
"Yep." The scientist nodded. "Then we'll monitor its behavior on the screens and see how it reacts to the new environment. Go ahead and get it in there so we can begin the test."
"Alright." The caretaker walked towards the pod after taking hold of the creatures hand again. It tried to pull its hand back, it seemed to be trying to get away from the pod specifically. "Please work with me, we can't keep doing this, buddy. It's not helpful for you to do this." It didn't listen and pulled harder, so the scientist helped push it into the pod. Once it was inside, the curled door slid closed, containing the mutant. It almost immediately tried to force the pod open, but after a while, it stopped. "He's so much more... upset today. I think something's wrong with him..."
