Mikey's pov:
After Raph got frustrated with dad for not noticing Donnie was gone, he didn't speak to him, look at him, or even stay in the same room as him for an entire week. He stopped protesting against searching more than normal, he was too worried about Big Mama finding Donnie first and making the deal with Leo worse than it was supposed to be to think about resting properly. I'd noticed that Raph had stopped sleeping a couple of days ago to work on planning and Leo put more energy into the search than Raph and I, especially me since I was fully convinced at that point that Donnie was dead. I felt bad that I'd given up hope so quickly, but I saw what was left behind, and that was a lot of blood, damage, and anything that would've protected Donnie. It wasn't exactly unreasonable for me to think he was dead, especially after not seeing a single sign of him other than things that were pretty convincing of death after over a week. It was still two hours before sunrise, but Leo was starting to look pale. I looked at him. "Leo... are you okay?"
"Doing great, thanks." Leo gave me a thumbs up, he was starting to shake. He was much quieter than usual. We'd all been working too hard, he probably overworked himself. "Let's keep going."
"You're not okay." Raph looked at Leo and folded his arms. "We're going home, you look like you're gonna pass out."
"No, I'm fine, we should keep looking for Donnie." Leo protested, but Raph picked him up and held him carefully.
"We're going home, end of discussion." Raph started walking home, he took me by the hand to make sure I was still coming along as well. He was acting like those dads on TV that were taking their kids home when they didn't want to go home just yet, I was almost completely sure that he'd learned it straight from TV. As soon as we got inside, Raph let go of my hand. "Mikey, can you make dinner? I'm gonna get Leo to bed for some rest while we wait. I'll handle other things while you do it."
"Of course, Raph." I smiled at him. I was glad that he was asking me for help rather than trying to do that too, he hadn't been asking for help from anyone most of the time and it was refreshing to see him doing something somewhat healthy for himself. I went to the kitchen and started cooking something simple, I didn't have the energy to make something complicated even if I hadn't been working nearly as hard as Raph and Leo had been. I was tired from grieving Donnie instead, they hadn't started yet, so they still had the determination and energy to keep going at least a little. I heard Raph taking care of Leo, it was nice that he was doing that but it was also upsetting that Leo hadn't been taking care of himself and now couldn't. Setting the table alone felt weird, it hurt that Donnie hadn't been there the entire time, telling us how to properly set it when we did it wrong. I just corrected myself whenever I noticed it was wrong instead. It's probably what he would've wanted, right? I made sure to take my time perfecting it instead of immediately letting them know dinner was ready to give Leo more time to rest. I then crept into Leo's room. "Dinner's ready."
"Oh jeez, you scared me!" Raph laughed nervously, I could tell he didn't find it funny but he needed some form of a coping mechanism, right? It was the most healthy thing he'd been doing so far, which was disappointing to have to think about. "Thanks for letting us know, Mikey. You ready for dinner, Leo?" Leo silently nodded, he was leaning against Raph tiredly. I knew he'd exhausted himself, he just hadn't wanted to admit it no matter how much I wanted him to. We all got to the dining room and started eating, dinner was silent and awkward. No one wanted to talk, no one felt obligated to talk, and even if one of us did, none of us had anything interesting to say. The silence was soon filled by dad's footsteps, he randomly walked around the house a few times before approaching the table.
"Where is purple? The TV isn't working and I've tried everything." Dad stood there, waiting for a response.
"You... just now realized?" Raph looked at him like he couldn't believe his eyes. "You mean to tell me that you didn't know?"
