MALACHI 2-5: Honor God's Name

2 If you do not listen, and if you do not resolve to honor my name," says the Lord Almighty, "I will send a curse on you, and I will curse your blessings. Yes, I have already cursed them, because you have not resolved to honor me.

3 "Because of you I will rebuke your descendants[]; I will smear on your faces the dung from your festival sacrifices, and you will be carried off with it. 4 And you will know that I have sent you this warning so that my covenant with Levi may continue," says the Lord Almighty. 5 "My covenant was with him, a covenant of life and peace, and I gave them to him; this called for reverence and he revered me and stood in awe of my name.

SERMON:c

Good afternoon everyone. Ako gali si pastor Ren of the House of Christin Fellowship and it is n honor and pleasure for me to stand here as bearer of God message for this household.

I thank the Lord for bringing us here this afternoon to be with you in commemorating the lifes of Dolores and Victorino . I thank God for His goodness in their lives kay bisan wala na diri subong pero padayon nga nagaka grasyahan kita tungod sang ila kinabuhi. I believe that they were good people. Even if I was not able to meet them . But I believe that they were good people because they raised up children who are loving and do not fail to honor them and celebrate them even after they are long gone.

I believe that they have raised good and loving children that is why we are having this gathering today. Nagapabilin ang ila nga kaayo nga pati kami, kita nagaambit pa asta subong. Their goodness transcends their lifetime.

Indeed a good name is better than expensive perfume.

Will they honor our name?

You see brothers and sisters, a name is not just so one can be identified among the many. A name evokes the image of a person, the events, hopes, and joys attached to that person.

And in the Bible, people put great importance on a name because a name defines the character and nature of a person.

Consider the first name of the first man on this chapter; Adam. The name 'Adam' is a very common name that reminds us of the first human in the story of creation. But if we are going to research the meaning of the name, in Hebrew the word Adam is likely derived from the Hebrew word Adamah which means 'ground'. As we know, in the story of creation that we were made from the ground.
