Amos 4: The Stubborn Love of God

Amos 4:6-13 THE STUBBORN LOVE OF GOD

6 "I gave you empty stomachs in every city and lack of bread in every town,

yet you have not returned to me,"declares the Lord.

"I also withheld rain from you when the harvest was still three months away.

I sent rain on one town, but withheld it from another.

One field had rain; another had none and dried up.

People staggered from town to town for water but did not get enough to drink,

yet you have not returned to me,"declares the Lord.

"Many times I struck your gardens and vineyards, destroying them with blight and mildew.

Locusts devoured your fig and olive trees, yet you have not returned to me,"

declares the Lord.10

"I sent plagues among you as I did to Egypt.I killed your young men with the sword,

along with your captured horses.I filled your nostrils with the stench of your camps,

yet you have not returned to me,"declares the Lord.

"I overthrew some of you as I overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah.

You were like a burning stick snatched from the fire,

yet you have not returned to me,"declares the Lord.

"Therefore this is what I will do to you, Israel, and because I will do this to you, Israel,

prepare to meet your God."

He who forms the mountains, who creates the wind,

and who reveals his thoughts to mankind,who turns dawn to darkness,

and treads on the heights of the earth— the Lord God Almighty is his name.

6 "Ako ang nagpadala sa inyo sang gutom sa tanan ninyo nga mga banwa, pero wala gihapon kamo magbalik sa akon. Ako, ang Ginoo, ang nagasiling sini.

7 "Ako ang nagpugong sang ulan tatlo ka bulan antes mag-abot ang tig-alani. Ginapaulanan ko ang iban nga mga banwa pero ang iban iya wala. Ginapaulanan ko ang iban nga mga talamnan pero ang iban iya nagakamalhan. 8 Tungod sa kaluya nagaduling-duling kamo sa pagpangita sang tubig halin sa isa ka banwa pakadto sa isa ka banwa, pero indi bastante ang inyo makuha. Pero wala gihapon kamo magbalik sa akon. Ako, ang Ginoo, ang nagasiling sini.

9 "Madamo na nga beses nga ginpierdi ko ang inyo mga talamnan paagi sa mainit nga hangin kag mga peste. Ginsalakay sang mga apan ang inyo mga kahoy nga higera kag olibo. Pero wala gihapon kamo magbalik sa akon. Ako, ang Ginoo, ang nagasiling sini.

10 "Ginpadal-an ko kamo sang mga kalalat-an pareho sang ginpadala ko sadto sa Egipto. Ginpapatay ko ang inyo mga pamatan-on nga mga lalaki sa inaway kag ginpabihag ko ang inyo mga kabayo. Kag ginpaantos ko kamo sa baho sang mga patay sa inyo mga kampo. Pero wala gihapon kamo magbalik sa akon. Ako, ang Ginoo, ang nagasiling sini.

11 "Ginlaglag ko ang iban sa inyo pareho sa ginhimo ko sa Sodom kag Gomora. Kag ang iban sa inyo nga nakaluwas daw pareho sa kahoy nga ginsabnit sa kalayo. Pero wala gihapon kamo magbalik sa akon. Ako, ang Ginoo, ang nagasiling sini.
