Luke 3:21-38 Make God Proud

21 When all the people were being baptized, Jesus was baptized too. And as he was praying, heaven was opened 22 and the Holy Spirit descended on him in bodily form like a dove. And a voice came from heaven: "You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased."

23 Now Jesus himself was about thirty years old when he began his ministry. He was the son, so it was thought, of Joseph,

the son of Heli, 24 the son of Matthat,the son of Levi, the son of Melki,

the son of Jannai, the son of Joseph,25 the son of Mattathias, the son of Amos,

the son of Nahum, the son of Esli,the son of Naggai, 26 the son of Maath,

27 the son of Joanan, the son of Rhesa, the son of Zerubbabel, the son of Shealtiel,

Sermon:

Good morning Church! Today we are on Luke chapter 4 and the Holy Spirit brought us to the genealogy of Jesus. Kumbaga, gin enumerate and family tree ni Jesus, gikan sa iyang generation up to his ancestors and the very first man Adam and ultimately declared Adam as the son of God.

Now we have to remember that Mary conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and Joseph was not really related to Jesus by blood, because Mary and Joseph did not sleep together until Jesus was born.

Mary and Joseph actually had other children on their own aside from Jesus, but people during that time, didn't know the identity of who Jesus is. All they know is that Jesus is also one of the children of Joseph and Mary. The son of a carpenter.

If we come to think of it, there is nothing special about being the son of a carpenter. Anak sang panday. Although being a carpenter is a noble job and requires skills, it isn't really something glamorous or something that people would admire and consider in high regard.

Most people would look up to you if you come from a prominent family. If anak ka sa lawyer, anak ka sa government official, anak ka sa doctor, anak ka sa architect, anak ka sa engineer. Pero kung anak ka sa pobre, dili ka makaasa na tratuhon ka maayo sang iban na tawo. Di ka makaasa na tagaan ka the same treatment nga ginahatag sa mga tawo nga gikan sa prominente na pamilya.
