"I'll wash up." I turned to Max who was piling up the dishes in the sink. I had a cloth tucked in my Jean pocket.

"Let's put some music on shall we?"

I nodded reaching for my Mum's pink feather scarf which she wore on bingo nights.

"Oooh, Billie Eilish!" Max switched on the radio.

"I'm a bad guy duh....... I'm the bad guy."

"So you're a tough guy like it really rough guy. Just can't get enough guy, chest always so puffed guy!" Max danced along holding hands with me. Max gave a little to much effort to singing and his voice cracked many times.

"Wow you really know the lyrics huh." I tapped my feet to the beet dancing around in circles as I waved the scarf in Max's face.

"So how's Jodie?" I questioned. Jodie was Max's little sister.

"Oh we can call her if you like?" Max loved his sister even though she always was sniffing something up and in everyones' business.

"No. I mean, no need. She ummm... might be busy with her homework or doodling another masterpiece." Jodie was 8, a little brat if that! She was like a boogie stuck to a wall which would slowly dry up so you would have to pick it off with your finger nails.  One minute she stuck to you and the next she goes away. It's like she's a secret agent listening to everything and disappears to document everything.

"Oh of course silly me. She will probably be in bed by now." Max called from the living room as he collected the blankets, "Just gonna take these up stairs!"

"Okay." I peered over Max's phone, "love you babe? Yuck!"

Max came down the stairs taking his phone. "Just gotta message someone."

"Oh do you? And who is this someone. Actually no need to explain you liar! How could you keep this from me?"

"Look Indi I was going to tell you. I... I thought you might get jealous and upset. We started dating a few weeks ago, on your fifteenth birthday but I didn't want to spoil your special day, so I didn't tell you."

"You thought I would get jealous. Pff. That's ridiculous." But in reality I was, but it was more complicated than the sort of jealous Max thought. It wasn't because I wanted a high school sweet heart. I just wanted him, how it always was; but with Max's stupid new girlfriend, Kerry it would be bye bye friendship and hello to a living hell. It was as if Aphrodite was making my life a nightmare- and all in one second too.

"So, what you gonna text her eh."

"Non of your business!" Max held his phone across his chest.

"We don't keep secrets Max. What's gotten into you.... You look a bit flustered. How about I get this nice damp tea towel. There all better." I annoyed Max purposely.

"Stop messing Indigo. I'm not sick, and I very well do not have a temperature for your information!" Max paused smiling at his phone.

I rolled my eyes. "Are you in love with your phone or something?"

"No. I'm in love with Kerry."

"Hmm. I can see that you idiot. No flies on you are there! It's something called being sarcastic Max. Right then I'm going to the.. to the ummm toilet." I ran upstairs into my room slamming the door shut. I cuddled boo, my lamb toy to help me calm down. I had got it as a present from my dad when I was three. I don't know where my dad is. He could be on a cruise in Spain or he could be earning millions and could be the boss of a chocolate factory. If I was there I would get a whole life supply of chocolate and think of all the pretty, pearly jewellery I would get! But here I am just hoping that all of this was real and me and my dad and Mum would live happily ever after in a huge house in Hollywood with a huge swimming pool, high up so I could throw stupid kooky Kerry in it and she would have to find her own way out. But she wouldn't because instead she would get blasted out to space by a jet pack never to be seen again.
