I exited the school building and walked towards the gates to see Lucy, beaming a smile.

"Hi, I'm just waiting for my mum to pick me up." Lucy said.

"Oh, same." I shuffled next to her. It was so awkward. But I couldn't move away, that would be rude. I was out of conversation starters. Then something clicked in my head.

"I really like your hair clip. It's so pretty." I meant it as well. It had a little pink, pearly butterfly on it and was attached to her hijab.

"Oh thank you! I got it at a market stall in town."

"Oh, with that really sweet, elderly lady?"

"Yeah, that's the one, outside the café and post office." Lucy nodded her head.

"That's where I like to go to spend my pocket money. She always has all sorts. Doesn't she. I like the hair accessories she does. Oh and the bracelets." I smiled.

"Yeah they are really pretty. The lavender bags are nice as well and the mini crochet animals."

" I love little things like that. They are just so cute." I quietly chuckled.

A short time passed and a blue mauve car slowed down by the gates.

"Bye Lucy! See you tomorrow! Ugh! We've got PE tomorrow! With the boys!" I said as I entered the car and waved goodbye.

Lucy sighed then waved.

"New friend, Indigo?" Mum said and gave a polite nudge as we set off for home.

"Maybe. I'll just have to wait and see. I walked up to school with Brittney today Mum." I said strapping my self in with the seat belt.

"Ooo how was that."

"Good." I said.

"In the library again this lunch then?" Mum questioned.

"No, I hung out with Brittney's friends. They are really popular. They are actually quite nice."

"Well that's good then. Better than being in the library alone."

"Mum" I sighed.

"What! I'm just saying." Mum raised her eyebrows. "What's she called then. The girl you were talking to?" We turned the corner onto a long road

"Lucy. She's really nice and sat next to me in art."

"Well that's lovely!" Mum looked so pleased.
