Atsushi was snarfing down on the rice balls, a little too quickly that even Kunikida was getting worried. Dazai was smiling as he kept messing with the blonde (idrk if Kunikida is blonde-) while Ai was sitting beside Dazai, fidgeting with her fingers as her legs rocked back and forth. Strangely enough, she put on a medical mask when the rice balls were served, something Atsushi found odd.
When Atsushi finally finished, he took one deep exhale. Just as he was about to speak, Ai suddenly slammed her fists on the table, causing a sound that was loud enough to make the small man fall from his chair.
"Atsushi-kun! I have an offer!" She announced loudly, her cheeks brightening for some reason. "Oi, Ai-san. You might want to make him feel a little more comfortable around us. He still didn't adapt to us yet." Kunikida reasoned, adjusting his glasses. Atsushi got up, and looked at the excited woman, confused. "What do you-"
"Why don't you join the Armed Detective Agency?"
"The what-" Atsushi stuttered, then took two steps backwards, his face getting pale. Kunikida checked his watch, then frowned slightly. "We have to go back to the Agency. We've been here for long enough." He spoke sternly, shutting his notebook.
"Eh? The President didn't call me yet..." Dazai argued innocently, then grinned widely. "Therefore I'm not moving~! Besides, you're not one to just drag Ai-san out, right?" He continued, his grin growing wider.
"That's not important right now!" Kunikida yelled at the unfazed brunette.
"You want to take advantage of me!" Atsushi suddenly shouted. "Don't think I'll give up that easily! I'm not a pawn!" He continued, pointing his finger at Ai, who was still grinning at him. Her smile got a little gentler.
"There's a reward, you know..."
Atsushi stopped, then stepped back in surprise mixed with frustration. After all, he's currently broke. He turned his back to the three, "Th- there's no way I'm joining you in return for money!"
Ai's smile faded, and she closed her eyes, suddenly looking bored.
'But I really need the money right now!' Atsushi thought, taking a peek at Dazai, who was pressing on numbers on a small calculator.
"Just to confirm that I've made my decision and I am definitely not straying away from it... how much is the reward exactly...?" Atsushi asked nervously, his breath getting tense. Dazai raised the calculator, "This much."
