Breathing Technique: Breath of Darkness (Yami no kokyu)

It is known to be a main Breathing Technique created by Tsugikuni Yoriichi as a sidekick Breath along with Sun Breathing. It had 9 Forms created at first, but it got upgraded by Ai later to become 20 Forms in total. However, using Breath of Darkness requires extreme physical capabilities as well as a clear mind. That trait left it abandoned by swordsmen for centuries, who couldn't match to the required states.

It is well-known that whoever uses Breath of Darkness is blessed by Nanari, the Goddess of the Night. Nanari has three eyes, they're all white with a black outline and a black crescent moon as a pupil. In the Taisho-Era, Ai was born with one of those eyes for mysterious reasons. Ai was the first swordslady who used Breath of Darkness after Tsugikuni Yoriichi, she mastered it after about two years due to the fluency in her training to the hard Forms. Can be used mainly with nichirin blades similar to Tengen's Sound Breathing blades.

Backstory:-

Ai was born to abusive parents, ones who would continue to physically injure her despite her age. She never cried while enduring pain, which led the parents to think she was a demon. With them finding out her left eye is the exact same as Nanari, they panicked and threw her out of fear that she might curse them. She was 4 years old at the time of her abandonment, and she was found by Upper Moon Four, who immediately took her to Muzan.

Muzan was fascinated by the rare discovery, and since she was human, he decided to keep her captive and use her blood as a specimen for his experiments. He kept her in a room with no light (obviously) and decided to turn her into a demon when she becomes 18, where her body would be strong. However, he couldn't resist not torturing her every now and then. Wether he'd use his Blood Demon Art or not, it'd always leave a permanent scar. Not to mention, (⚠️ SEXUAL ASSAULT AND RAPE AHEAD ⚠️) he would also rape her when he feels like it. The first time was when Ai was 9 years old.

Ai never knew what she had gone through, even as an adult. She snapped when she began crying and praying hard to Nanari, who granted her Ability to control Muzan's blood for some time. Ai used this time to escape, and she was barely successful when she had to kill Lower Moon Two with a prayer. Ai was found holding onto life by Ubuyashiki Kagaya, who took her in and considered her his own daughter, especially after finding out she was blessed by Nanari.

Ai wanted to be a shinobi at first, and no one knew she was underage. She hid her young looks with clothing and a mask, and used her outstanding strength as an excuse to claim she as old enough. She avoided men at all costs, and only felt less tense around women. She later got honored as the "Strongest Female Shinobi" to ever exist in this era. Leaving her shinobi culture behind, she decided to become a Demon Hunter after a talk with Ubuyashiki.

She had a really hard time choosing which Breath to adapt to, but Ubuyashiki advised her to learn the history of Breath of Darkness. He never mentioned that she was chosen by the Gods to wield such a strong Breath, he wanted her to figure it out herself. With Ai getting the hang of it, she began praying to Nanari whenever she could, thanking her for choosing her to hold one of her three glorious eyes.

With Ai passing the Final Selection (I was about to write entrance exam-) she was 15 years old. She kept getting higher in her ranks, going from Mizunoe to Kinoto in about a month or so. In the end, she was supposes to become a Hashira, but she asked to stay in her current rank for a little longer, and Ubuyashiki didn't seem to mind it. At the age of 16, she becomes the first Darkness Hashira under Ubuyashiki Kagaya.

Physical Appearance:-

Short dark purple hair with black tips, tied loosely into a really low bun. Long curtain bangs that expose her forehead, small black drawings of spikes under her eyes to her cheeks. Light powder-purple eyelashes. The right eye is her normal one, black with a white pupil. The other is the same as Nanari. Peachy lips, and a small nose. Her uniform is the same as Uzui Ryoba, but with a short skirt with ripped sides. Thigh-high stockings, but one of them isn't as high as the other. She wears a black rope-like thing on her right thigh that holds several kunais.

Her arms has sleeves that starts at her elbows to her hands. The right is black with purple endings, the left is black with dark crimson endings. She wears golden earpieces as well as her beloved shinobi headband along with fingerless gloves. Her body is small, but very strong in physical terms. Scarred almost all over, especially in the chest area and her arms. She has a bust that goes well with her size, her thighs are thick but strong. Her arms seem feeble but they're muscular.

Personality:-

Calm, cool, and collected. She might seem careless, but she just doesn't know how to react to most things. She didn't see much people as a child, therefore she cannot understand basic human interactions sometimes. She is gentle when sleepy or tired, or around certain people. As for men, she would keep her kunais ready, just in case. Deeply respects and loves Oyakata-sama, and she'd do anything to satisfy him. Finds it hard to tolerate silly actions, she feels like she can't keep quiet from saying comments that would be brutally honest.

Fun Facts:-

The only person that remained engraved in her memory after her escape was Upper Moon Four, the same demon who took her to Muzan, which is Nakime, the Biwa Demon. It is known that Nakime is also blessed by Nanari, therefore she always felt a weird connection to Ai when she'd sneak to her locked room.

One of the things that calm Ai down is playing her biwa, or writing a letter to anyone, wether it's real or a fragment of her imagination. She never sends them though. As for the biwa, she picked up those skills when she was staying with Nakime, at the rare times she'd be allowed by Muzan to roam around the Infinity Castle. One of the types of prayer to Nanari is playing the biwa, which is why both Ai and Nakime ar experts in it.

In this KNY scenario, Tanjiro was saved from Nezuko by Ai, not Tomioka. And Tanjiro learned Breath of Darkness instead of Water Breathing. Changing anything regarding the Hinokami Kagura wouldn't be smart, considering that he is a descendant of Kamado Sumiyoshi.

Tengen and Ai get along well, probably because they're both familiar with their former shinobi culture. Tengen didn't receive a welcome from the Darkness Hashira when he first joined, which is why he is keeps teasing her at any possible moment. Ai is sometimes annoyed by him, but she can't help but feel safe around him sometimes.

Ai can't process emotions. She always fails to care or become happy or sad. She can't bring herself to feel those emotions, and she'd always Mitsuri or Shinobu to guide her in deciding what to feel. She finds it extremely hard to accept whatever the others are feeling. She thinks they're just weak to give up to sadness, or stupid to think that their happiness will stay for a long time.
