I'm fasting as I'm writing, so I'm a little bit tired

Eating is important to any living thing. You'll die if you didn't eat, and it doesn't matter if you don't feel like it, you have to eat. It keeps you healthy and alive, and it's an extremely important part of life to keep yourself strong both physically and mentally. As a Demon Hunter, food is necessary to stay strong and well-adapted, or else it'd be impossible to cut off a demon's head.

That rule doesn't apply on Ai.

Ever since she was introduced to the Hashiras, she was almost never seen eating. Even though she was the strongest Hashira after Himejima Gyomei, none of her fellow Hashiras saw her have a proper meal for once. She was strong and intimidating despite her small size, so how she managed to be like that without eating sounded odd. The Hashiras took it upon themselves to feed her, even though she is an adult and could take care of herself. Another thing they didn't understand was that a certain Hashira was her close friend, and is the opposite regarding the matter of food.

Kanroji Mitsuri.

That one pink-haired woman was actually Ai's close friend, the same woman who would swallow a dozen of dangos without chewing them. Mitsuri, being the nervous and caring woman that she is, often asks Ai if she wants to have lunch with her, and Ai always politely refuses. Sometimes, Mitsuri would get so worried that she literally starts begging Ai to eat for once while the shorter woman would try to stop her loud cries.

Ai calmly declines any offers that may come from the Hashiras, and she always claims that she's not hungry. Even when they try to pressure her, she immediately takes out her blades as a warning to stop getting on her nerves. One person who wouldn't hesitate to force food down Ai's throat is Uzui. That huge man can easily win over Ai with his size. He once tried to shove a piece of meat in her mouth while Sanemi held her in place.

TIMESKIP

"She'll just refuse like she always does, there's no point in trying."

"Simple. I'll threaten her with my sword-"

"Hate to remind you again, Shinazugawa. But Ai is stronger than you are..."

"...tch."

Obanai sighed, taking a quick look at Mitsuri, whose eyes were literally glowing with hope. He thought of telling her that there's no way Ai would agree, but his heart just wouldn't let him. The Hashiras decided to have their lunch together, so the room was busy. It was like a tradition to them, every once in a while they'd gather to have a nice meal.

Rengoku looked around, unable to locate his best friend Uzui. His mind trailed to the last thing he has heard about the flamboyant man, then it clicks.

He said he will be back with a miracle.

The possibility of the Darkness Hashira arriving was a no, but as soon as Rengoku thought of helping Obanai to calm Mitsuri down, he heard familiar screaming from afar, outside the estate. As soon as the others heard it too, they froze in their places. The screaming continued for a good moment, before Sanemi cursed and roughly opened the door. A confused look went over him when he saw Uzui holding the short woman from her waist.

He had his nichirin blades down, his muscular arms tight around Ai's small waist. Struggling to break free, she couldn't help but leave several red scratch marks on his hands. Judging from the veins popping in her forehead, she was about to explode.

Shinobu peeked at the sight, and she giggled at Ai's failed attempts of getting out of Uzui's grip. Uzui heard the muffled laugh, and he frowned at how rude it was to leave him handle the woman on his own.

"I could really use some help here- OW!" He yelled before he felt Ai's nails digging into his flesh, making him drop her on the ground.

Ai sprinted and snatched her own blades from behind the tall man, already in position for a fight. By now, all the others had gotten outside. Mitsuri tried to take the large blades away from her friend, while she hinted for Giyuu to block her potential exit from the place.

That didn't go unnoticed by Ai.

Slowly glancing, she saw that there was no way for her to escape. And now that her blades are gone, she couldn't resist either. She wasn't fond of talking either, so she found it difficult to leave, especially with Mitsuri and Muichiro on her sides, much to her dismay.

Swiftly, Ai used Mitsuri's shoulder to do a backflip, landing far behind her. Sliding her leg on the ground, she completely stopped near a tall tree that blocked the sunlight.

At this point, Sanemi couldn't take it anymore.

Hearing the sound of a steel blade brushing against its sheath, all eyes landed on the Wind Hashira, who was walking towards the short woman. He had his sword in his dominant hand, and a bowl of rice in the other.

'Oooh, will she finally eat if we followed that method?' Obanai wondered.

"Now then, pipsqueak. I won't hesitate to force the food down your throat if you kept being so damn stubborn." Sanemi warned, somehow holding the rice bowl elegantly when the other was gripping the hilt too tightly. Ai, who was without her blades at the moment, thought of an idea.

Quickly, she snatched Uzui's blades instead. Almost elegantly, she adjusts her grip on the colorful hilts.

"Oi! Those are mine! You can't use Breath of Darkness with Sound Breathing blades!" Uzui yelled, his sound irritating the woman even more before she calms down, the tension leaving her body. Facing the scarred man back, her eyes sharpen in his direction, ignoring the still-yelling Uzui.

"I'm ready for whatever shit you'd come up with, Shinazugawa."
