Tÿlana sat in front of Lo'ak, neither of them saying a word to one another. They were on their cove. She didn't know how she convinced him to come but she did know she owed a lot to Neytiri, the mother scowled her son once he nearly denied to come with Tÿlana.
" So, uh.." Lo'ak mumbled awkwardly while looking around the sand as if he was going to find something interesting.
" I think I owe you an apology." Tÿlana gave him half a smile once he looked at her, surprised. " Whatever happened was very escalated and it did not need to go down the way it went down. I apologize for my actions."
" Forgiven." Lo'ak told her with a smile on his face.
For the first time, Tÿlana really took his features in. She loved the way his eyebrows, at least she thinks that is what they are called, scrunched together slightly when he smiled. The outline of his bioluminescence freckles was something that interested her. Tÿlana caught her hand raising slightly to trace the outline but her eyes widened and she put both of her hands onto her lap.
" And I'm sorry too, I assumed quickly without giving you a chance." He added on quickly after that.
" Forgive and forget?" She stuck her hand out to him with a full smile on her face now.
Lo'ak smiled back at her without a second doubt, it was hard not to, her smile was contagious. He grabbed her hand and lightly shook it. " Forgive and forget."
" Well now that's over. Close your eyes."
The look on his face was full of confusion and she could see the way his breath picked up for a quick second. It made her have to hold back a smile. The boy didn't close his eyes for some reason and Tÿlana rolled her eyes at him.
From Lo'ak perspective he was just admiring the girl in front of him. Every single fucking thing about her was absolutely perfect to him. He adored how she was taller than most of the Na'vi girls. Her eyes were also very different compared to the other people in her clan with them being green instead of blue. He guessed it was something among the genes of her family. Without really knowing what was happening, he watched as her hand reached to his face and she closed his eyes. They laughed together before she told him to take a deep breath in.
" Listen to the waves crash against the sea."
And so they both did. The waves crashing against the sand had to be one of the most comforting feelings in the whole world. It had such a calm sense to it, and it brought both teens' minds to ease.
" The way of the water has no beginning and no end."
Tÿlana held up a shell to Lo'ak while explaining the game. She would throw the shell into the water and he would retrieve it. It was to help him work on his breathing and swimming.
" Our hearts learn to beat with the water."
The two of them swam out into the water and looked at one another with glistening eyes. During that moment Tÿlana came to notice the way her stomach got slight butterflies in them as Lo'ak looked at her with such a happy look on his face. It was nice to see the boy finally being happy.
" The sea is your home, before your birth and after your death."
Lo'ak watched as Tÿlana threw the shell into the water away from them. He looked at her for confirmation, and she nodded towards him. He dove under and into the sea, searching for the shell. After a couple of seconds Tÿlana dove in as well, slowly swimming after him. She saw he was paying close attention to where the shell was going.
" The sea will give, and the sea will take, but you do not let that stop you, Lo'ak. Our breath burns in the shadows of the deep."
Lo'ak pushed harder and harder as he gained towards the shell. If Tÿlana believed he could do it, then he sure as hell thought he could do it. His fingers lingered on the shell and held back his groan as the shell practically got pushed away and deeper under the water. He swam after it and finally grasped it in his hand.
" The water will protect you. If you let it. Water connects all things. Life to death. Darkness to light."
Tÿlana was already back at the top once Lo'ak swam back up. He raised his arm in the air with the shell in his hand. He let out a joyful laugh as he handed the shell to her. The girl looked down at the shell in her hand before looking up at Lo'ak with a giant smile.
" I think I am a pretty good teacher." The girl teased while handing the shell back to Lo'ak.
He grinned at her and looked at the shell, admiring the gorgeous pink color. " Or maybe I'm just that good of a student."
She jokingly gave him a look of disbelief to which he rolled his eyes and flipped her off. She grabbed his hand and jokingly shoved it down. Lo'ak noticed the way she grabbed all five of his fingers instead of four. The two teenagers' hands still interlocked underneath the water as they examined the shell together.
" What if we switched?" She mumbled the question as she looked down into the water and saw their hands. She quickly let go of his hand and chuckled nervously.
" Elaborate, Tÿa." He looked hurt by the action.
It slightly ruined her mood but she mentally shook it off. The idea has been lingering in her head for a little bit.
" If I teach you to sign," She began. Lo'ak immediately winced at the topic. Signing was definitely not going to be his thing. The girl chuckled a bit. " Just listen Lo'ak. If I teach you to sign, will you teach me how to speak english?"
" Deal."
