The sound of waves crashing against the sand woke Tÿlana up, not like she had gotten much sleep anyways. The girl was up all night thinking about what had happened. Lo'ak told her he has something to make up for the emotions he had caused during that day. For some reason though she couldn't help but feel a weird pain in her heart when she woke up.
" I do not like how I cannot see." Tÿlana expressed her emotions bluntly as Lo'ak guided her through the sand and into the small forest part of the cove. She felt his body vibrate against her back as he chuckled.
" It's worth it. Just wait." Lo'ak told her.
The boy kept leading her through the tiny forest making sure to tell her to step higher so she would not trip on a root or telling her if she was about to step on a rock. Tÿlana was growing restless as she let the boy blindly guide her.
" Okay, look." They finally stopped walking and Lo'ak took his hands off of her face so she could see what was in front of them. The girl's mouth fell open and her eyes widened as she looked at the set up. There were two hammocks set up in between two thick trees. Tÿlana knew Lo'ak had made them. She recalled him telling her about how they were hammocks hung up in their home back in the forest before they had to go hiding in the High Camp.
" Lo'ak.." Her voice was full of awe as she looked around. Not only were their hammocks there but there was a crossbow, a bow with many arrows, and different sizes of spears. " How..? Where..? When..?"
" Rotxo gave me the crossbow and told me he could say it was broken from when he went hunting. I made the bow from a tree farther from here, and Rotxo and Neteyam helped me make the spears." Lo'ak explained to her, stepping to her side so they could stand beside each other. " I was not with Payakan as much as everyone assumed I was.."
The girl looked over at him with a tiny frown when he said that. Tÿlana felt bad for everything she had yelled at him during the last twelve hours. She didn't think she would ever be able to express the gratitude she felt for him during this moment, this was a large act of kindness and she knew that no matter what, she'd never forget it.
" This means everything." Were the only words she could muster up as she finally looked over at him with a soft smile set on her calmed features. Lo'ak smiled at her.
" Come on. You can teach me how to use a spear." He grabbed her hand and led her over to the small station where the weapons were laid.
Tÿlana jumped off of the hammock and her feet landed on the grass. She looked down and shook off the weird texture that was not sand, she turned and shook Lo'ak gently. The boy stirred open and looked at her, confused. Tÿlana laughed softly and smiled at the boy.
