Au: Bio dad Bruno, twin Mirabel and Camilo.
Bruno loved his children.
He really, really loved his children. So it broke him when he decided that he couldn't raise them as his children.
You see, their mother died while giving birth to them. He'd known it would happen, seen it in a vision, and well, he couldn't handle it. His children deserved a motherly figure in their lives. They deserved a father who wasn't thoroughly wrecked from watching his fiancé pass away. They deserved a life that he wasn't sure he could give them.
So he begged his sisters, and his in laws. Pleaded with them to take on parental roles for the two, because he just couldnt. And they did. Julieta took Mirabel, Pepa took Camilo, and they raised them as their own. They knew it ate Bruno up but they loved their brother, and if he wasn't sure he could handle it, they'd take care of the little ones.
They gave Camilo and Mirabel two different birthdays so the two wouldn't question anything. And when Bruno went into hiding, Pepa was enraged. How could he leave his kids at such an important time? His daughter just found out she'd not recieved a gift for crying out loud!
That was why they weren't allowed to talk about Bruno. She thought - for some reason- Bruno didn't care about his children.
But Bruno did.
He watched every birthday, every celebration, weeping because he couldn't be there to celebrate with them.
He heard every fight, every argument, feeling his heart break because he couldn't stick up for them.
Most of all he saw Mirabel and Camilo grow into their own people, hating himself for not being their every step of the way.
He just wished they knew how much he loved them.
After all, he'd left to protect his daughter from a fate he couldn't have stopped.
And he would never get that time back.
